Something I learned about triggers in Euro: pulse width can be an issue, so modules may expect different from what sequencers put out.

I love my Vector. It’s big and expensive but it is really playable.

A buddy of mine from way back wrote the sampling code for this widgit, and he just alerted me to this new video:


Disregard the actual musical content in that snippet (unless that's your thing, then enjoy!) but just envision the potential.

I was toying around with the Qu Bit Bloom sequencing the Erica Sample Drum. It was a very "music adjacent" experience, but as a proof of concept it works. Now to refine.

I also got to the point where I can make the Erica delay do flange/chorus sounding stuff. It took some hunting for the sweet spots on blend and feedback and time modulation (via Pam's).

I was not a big fan of the original Orba -- it's kind of a fun toy for a few minutes, every few months or so but not that hot otherwise, even as a MIDI controller. Sampling probably makes it more fun though.

Have my Oxi as master clock and controller for my Octatrack, EssenceFM and eurorack. Just a jam to make sure everything lined up ok.

Octatrack sync’d and used as a mixer. Also sampled/mangled some of the drums drum the EssenceFM

Meh...apparently the Orba 2 does not have a built-in microphone, and so it requires a companion app running on a separate mobile device or computer to record new samples.
My interest has just dwindled significantly

...though not completely.

I’d love an S900 or S950. Don’t see me biting the bullet on an Amiga. I got enough learning curves over here!

Hi guys, wondering if anyone knows of a desktop cv/MIDI control device for rhythmic gated/stutter effect on a synth pad? That da-da-daaa da-da-daaa trancey vibe, for example? I’ve tried playing around with a programmable tremolo but can’t quite nail it. I considered a step sequencer like the Korg SQ-1 but the patterns I’m after need a combination of short and long note durations so need the ability to join steps together to create longer notes in the pattern… not sure if the Korg can do this. Any other ideas?

For anyone interested, I cracked the 'trance gate' code after some Googling. Feed a drum machine hi-hat pattern into the sidechain input of a gate, which triggers the VCA volume of a synth pad. Simple. I'm looking at getting an old Alesis Micro Gate and a drum machine. Not really your usual post rock/ambient effect I guess

btw, the first time I ever heard about using sidechain modulation to impart rhythm on a not-quite-rhythmic source, it was in a Jack Douglas interview circa 1980, and he described a tune on John Lennon's Double Fantasy album where either the acoustic guitar was modulating the harmonica track, or vice-versa.

It's a very cool effect.
