Old guy synth problems - New module with a screen means where do I put that in the rack so that I can see the screen without squinting and contorting? Cable management be damned, I gotta read that thing.

Im seriously at the age when my reading distance is really a mess with or without my distance glasses on. It used to be an easy on/off choice. Now it’s a bit of leaning in/back. Also my handicap impacts my left arm so I need to set things where I can easily do a lot of right arm work, instead of crossing it over.
If it makes you feel any better I finally hit the age that I bought my first ear, nose amd eyebrow trimmer yesterday.

Hi guys, wondering if anyone knows of a desktop cv/MIDI control device for rhythmic gated/stutter effect on a synth pad? That da-da-daaa da-da-daaa trancey vibe, for example? I’ve tried playing around with a programmable tremolo but can’t quite nail it. I considered a step sequencer like the Korg SQ-1 but the patterns I’m after need a combination of short and long note durations so need the ability to join steps together to create longer notes in the pattern… not sure if the Korg can do this. Any other ideas?
Sounds you might be looking for a sequencer with ratchet function. The Erica Black has that capability but it might not fit your workflow (or budget). There might be other devices out there with ratchet functions in the firmware. Perhaps Arturia?
I can also do this using a Maschine 2 control pad but that’s another big investment.

Not sure if you’ll come across this elsewhere but the QuBit Bloom sequencer has a “ratchet” function that’s really a step repeat that stays in time. To make it truly ratchet you’d need to cv a few things. I don’t know how common that is.
The Moog Mother 32 has a built-in sequencer ratchet function that I abuse regularly.
None of my other sequencer devices have that, unfortunately.
I think the term "sequencer ratcheting" goes back to when Tangerine Dream was doing it regularly in the 70s on albums like Pheadra and Rubycon.

notes with different lengths (one is 1/4, one is 1/8) or different durations (all quarters notes but some are long, some are short)?
Finally got around to listening to some of the latest stuff here. This makes two drone albums in a row by you that I've bought. That Skulk track is pretty epic.
Working with my Erica Sample Drum today. Learning how to slice stuff and CV control parameters. My poor brain is struggling (and it’s still stupid hot here in SoCal) but I’m getting there. I was able to load up my own sample from an Ableton loop I exported. So far so good.
Im learning that the Jumble Henge cas some compression limits when I feed it too much amplitude. Now I’m working on how to manage my external mixing.
