Congrats @Ugly. I'm sure this will be great to listen to as I clean up my home office before the first day of class tomorrow.
We got home from our travels Monday night which meant I could finally install the MPE update for the UDO Super 6. There are still a couple things I don't get (support email sent) but wow this takes the synth to a whole other level of modulation madness.
I'm getting ready to "freeze" my setup for fall term, so there's no troubleshooting or anything during synth time.

I really liked it. As I got into it, it made me feel uneasy, like I should be looking over my shoulder. It sounded foreboding. I kept imagining a huge slow rolling steamroller annihilating everything in its path. You could see (and hear) it coming and maybe you could get away, maybe. But sh*t was not going to be the same when the song ends. The length of the track helped with this sense of foreboding helplessness. It's a lot for any music to foster any sort of descriptive narrative in me so nice work. I'll take this over anything that douche Hainbach writes from a picnic table all day every day. There's no feeling in it, regardless of the inherent darkness in the Lyra he talks about. You and your basement obviously have darkness in spades.
I’m disappointed this wasn’t titled “Under the Synthfluence” but otherwise enjoying it.
I was really hoping it was all bass guitar!
That is awesome!
It has a little Forbidden Planet soundtrack vibe but it's SO much darker.

All Lyra separated into 6 tracks. Nothing was one take, I like the pain and suffering when I make stuff remember
3 panned left, 3 right. (don’t remember what amount but definitely not hard panning)
It’s basically a huge collage of tracks that I tried to make « each complement the other ».
Some sample chops, ok alot. Then reorganized to « fit » in one long track.
About 4 hours of sample material to chop and organize then some recorded afterwards to fit with specific sections.
Only added fx is raising the overall levels in the master bus and tiny bit of cut below 45Hz
tell me if this makes any sense whatsoever? If I showed you the screen in my Ableton session you would get it immediately.

Been meaning to tell people - I keep getting "Meta is hiring: Sound Designer" emails from LinkedIn - I was going to suggest someone should apply - maybe everyone here should apply! I would only be able to design Moogy sounds. ugly_bassplayer should send in this latest album! Disturb the Metaverse...
I think @Ugly should design the startup sound for the next version of Windows.

So I listened to @uglybassplayer 's piece again. It is really different on speakers vs headphones. Way freakier on headphones. This might also be my favourite of your releases to date.
What laptop did you get?
My old iOS is from 2009 and my Alien ware from 2013.
The PC is still “ok”, but circumstances have led me to use my computer more than ever. Who would have though that, not me that’s for sure. So upgrading wouldn’t be a luxury since it’s an essential tool

Both have good ssd drives and specs but might be looking at a custom built tower by one of my buddies that’s a computer nerd. (PC for sure, Apple is above my budget. And don’t worry I hate Android, Apple and PC all equally

I grabbed a Mac Book Pro 14" and since Best Buy had them on sale I popped for the 1 TB hard drive. I almost went for the 16" but I have an old 15" and it is just a bit bigger than convenient, and the new MBP has an HDMI port so I can connect it to my big monitor easily.
Where I'm hesitating is the fact that I'm merging two laptop profiles. Several years back I picked up a second Mac for music that I would only bring to shows, but didn't have personal info on. It seemed like a decent insurance policy. Now I need to merge my personal and music laptop profiles again and decide what to do with my "extra" old laptops. My big motivation to upgrade was that old laptops can't upgrade OS for certain security patches. Now that I have the new, powerful chip and more RAM I want to run my music software on that box.
I wish they let you sort by the discount percentage. I see some items are marked as both "SALE" and "0% OFF" though...
