Just got back from traveling to Denver. It’s definitely cold and flu season. I went to a magic show at The Stanley hotel, which was my first return to live entertainment of any kind since Covid started and I was surrounded by coughing and sneezing in a small theater with about 60 people. I was certainly nervous, but I haven’t developed any symptoms. It was both stressful and encouraging to get out and see a live performance.
ya know, i've seen and played at a few small shows recently and i'm always masked—just not going into small spaces unprotected.
have a rehearsal /gig thing with horn players this week and will be masked at all times. new surge is imminent and i'm not planning on getting caught in it.

@monsterthompson- I almost forgot you were looking into sequencers. Seriously check out the Oxi One before you decide. It’s crazy good and interesting
At the beginning of November I started working on a project that was all no-input feedback loops, alternating between hardware and software patches. No synths or bass. Then I went on a two-week road trip. So all this time I haven't been doing my usual thing, and I really miss synths and oscillators and bass.
I'd planned on an hour of material, but after 40 minutes I decided I had enough, so I'm in the mastering phase now.
REI absorbed my Perfect Circuit budget for November, so I was, in fact, both warm and fuzzy
…some fuzz was provided by my friend’s very fluffy white cat.

I've been entertaining myself learning with much to go my B2600 and so far have avoided the COVID simply by not really going anywhere much. When I do I follow my protocols from my nursing days - full strip, all clothes straight into washer, me straight into hot shower - or at the very least an immediate face and hand scrub and change of clothes.

It’s a bit higher priced than I was initially considering, but the CV connections certainly make it tempting with the euro gear.
Glad to see the thread hopping again. I developed a rager of a cold on the weekend, but continue to be Covid negative according to tests. I'm being careful anyway and cancelled all my in-person stuff this week. And today I feel like I might be turning a corner.
@monsterthompson I'm with @dukeorock. I've had less than a week to explore my Oxi One but I really like it. I've been using it with iOS and some rather crap sounds, just so I really focus on the sequencing. It is mostly intuitive, and has a lot of flexibility built in. There are a couple quirks but I would say it's pretty cooked. The designers are also super responsive. I wrote to tech support about fuller MIDI-to-CV implementation so I can run my Linnstrument through it and output CV for all the various control parameters and a day later they wrote back and said they were going to do that.
The Matriceal Sequencer is an absolute blast. It's like Rene, but easier to grok.
Anyway, I am having a lot more fun with it than the Hapax, which was on paper a brilliant sequencer, but just not for me. I sold the Hapax to someone who loves their Pyramid, so they should be happy.
I'm also a big fan of my Vector sequencer, of course and am excited for his LFO module.
Speaking of Euro, I've got a Frap Tools Fumana coming -- got a good deal on a used one and I've been very curious about a filter banks and analog spectral transfer. I feel like it's the 4 dimensional chess version of a regular VCF. I've been very into this Keith Fullerton Whitman record where he took all these Serge synthesizer recordings and convolved them with voices. I have always been entranced by spectral processing but haven't liked the sound as much from the digital tools I've used. Obviously, vocoding isn't convolution, but it is a way of mapping two different spectra onto one another. I also like that you get 16 envelope followers, which is an absolute whack load of CV to send around.
I got sentimental because of Mutable Instruments finally closing their doors and ordered a Mutable Beads, which I think will be a ton of fun. I have been largely disappointed by hardware granular -- Nebulae v2 has a lot of little gotchas on things I wanted to try, though Qu-Bit support were great, and the Morphogene is cool but I just din't gel with the interface. Beads does what it does and nothing else, and it's modeless, which I prefer, and the only button combo is for gain setting, so I am optimistic.

My problem now is space. I tend to do better with a more contained Euro setup for signal processing and control, and fixed architecture synths as my sound sources. The Fumana is massive so I have to remove a bunch of stuff from my rack. I am thinking of cheating and either outboarding a handful of my utilities to a 4ms pod, or getting an Intellijel 7U case and getting some 1u versions of the utilities. It's more expensive that way, though. The desk I use for music is just a bit too shallow to accommodate a 9u case laying down. I think what I'd really love is a more modular modular setup, with a series of 3u 104hp cases.

I did a gig this past weekend and for the first time I brought out my friend's Minimoog Voyager synth she's been letting me hold since she moved. I told her if she ever sells it, I get dibs.
I had been neglecting the instrument for a while because it's big and heavy and takes up a lot of space in my music room, and also because the instruction manual is so intimidating with all the digital presets and patch stuff. But I finally decided to hook it up and just start digging in, mainly using the presets with a few knob twists. I patched in a Korg SQ-1 sequencer, ran the stereo outs through some chorus and delay, and...WOW, what a great-sounding synth.
And while it was extra physical effort to take it out and play it live, it was totally worth it. Cranked up loud through a good PA you can really hear all that rich sound. The venue owner loved it. Been busy recording some new stuff with this instrument as well, maybe release something by the end of the year, we'll see.

It's pretty great! I never got into Clouds as much as some did, but I like Beads a lot for all kinds of different things.
I"ve been tempted to pick up Warps again, which is silly because I"ve already owned it twice and resold it both times. Plaits is kind of tempting thanks to the new firmware, but I'm still heavy on VCOs not even counting software synths and software modular, so I probably shouldn't.
I put in a preorder for Bela Gliss though. Maybe I don't really need another controller (I'm already trying to sell my BeetTweek) but it seems damned cool for the size and price.
The Gliss looks cool. But do you think it’s a big improvement on the old Soundmachines light plane and light strip modules?
