For real, a good winter jacket is about 600$ minimum (in cad $)
By that I mean it doesn’t suck wearing it and doesn’t weigh a metric ton and doesn’t disintegrate after 1 season

Hey, I didn’t even go into footwear!!!!

High boots (for after heavy snowfalls) walk boots, medium coke boots, minus 284739473 boots.
It never ends.

I can imagine. I hadn't bought a new coat in ages but my rain shell gave up the ghost, so I bought a new rain shell. I also bought a hooded insulated jacket for cold & rain. Then I bought a mid layer just in case. And I got suckered into buying a slightly more "fashionable" jacket without a hood so I could go out without looking like I was gonna scale Everest.

The cost of living in SoCal does have the sunshine tax, but the weather doesn't require you to have season-specific wardrobe variety, and Mother Nature's wear and tear on the car isn't as rough. The heating and cooling costs aren't as extreme. Aside from the occasional earthquake, there isn't weather that destroys your house. I'm sure it balances out.

The good news is that I'll be routing money back to the music gear budget again

i have one pair of open-toed semi-sandals that i use with or without socks, depending on "cold" . . . but most of the time in and around home, i go barefoot.

I’d wear a sleeveless tee, shorts and sandals for 365 a year for sure.

I like winter. Not feeling like a need a shower every time I step outside for five minutes? No bugs? Comfortable winter clothes to conceal my ever-increasing hideousness? Yes, please.

Lol that Jazz Sabbath is better than I was expecting by a fair amount. I always thought Sabbath had a lot of swing to it to begin with, so I guess it figures.

same (no modular, probably never, it is what it is. I’ll use different tools. Basement gutter lab ftw)
I just need to get out of this creative rut.
Now keeping bass “chops” oiled up with boring tech and metronome stuff since nothing is going my way these last months (music wise)

i have a friend who lived in denmark. apparently there are two seasons:

white winter
green winter

a friend sent me the jazz sabbath thing a while back. tbh, i lasted about 30 seconds and then "dropped the needle" a few times. that being said . . . . ugh. not my thing. playing seems flat/uninvolved. novelty concept in lieu of any real investigation or inspiration or hard work. (old man yells at clouds)

ruts . . . sometimes i find it useful to muse on what i want to hear or what i'm lacking. and, even when i'm moribund creatively, i go out and do the work—every once in a while a faint glimmer of hope creeps through.

i also like to hit notes (bass, piano or whatever) and try to listen intently while i let them decay

Almost impulse-bought a gorgeous guitar today. Then I slowly started to remember I have two guitars and a few basses that don’t get played enough as it is. What I really need to do is sell a few things. Also, buying a baritone guitar is really a more practical purchase. That said, I’m a sucker for certain wood tops and they just make me weak when the grain is perfect.
