Anyone have a Strymon Volante? I can't afford crap right now, but I was thinking of replacing the El Capistan if I get a few extra bucks, and was looking for some thoughts. I like the fact that it does more.
We all do, because when we see others GASing and fulfilling that GAS, it makes us feel less bad about fulfilling our own GAS. We are seemingly codependent on each other in some twisted, modular way.
damn I love the hm2, what clone did you get?I didn't buy a guitar or a desk yet, but I picked up another distortion pedal from the classified, because that is what I do.
Nothing like a HM2 clone for ambient soundscapes.
Fuzzlord HM6. Mostly because it has a clean blend. The $130 price was too tempting. I have their green Russian inspired box. It’s not amazing but it’s pretty good.

I hate to be a bummer, but Manuel Göttsching passed away. Pitchfork has a nice writeup, a lot of other sites I looked at had inaccurate information. Manuel Göttsching, German Electronic Innovator, Dies at 70
I recently picked up "Correlations Complete" - an Ashra box set - it has the version of the album that was released, plus an earlier mix that Manuel Göttsching originally turned in to the record label, plus three discs of improvisations that were later molded into the album. A friend of mine also picked up one of the "Private Tapes" CDs while he was in Japan - this one has an early Ash Ra Tempel live recording with Klaus Schulze on drums (he joined Ash Ra Tempel after leaving Tangerine Dream) - these are really rare as far as CDs go, plus it's the Japanese version - even more rare! I also picked up the Klaus Schulze/Manuel Göttsching live album "Gin Rosé" (released as Ash Ra Tempel) - I tracked down the Japanese version that has a DVD of the concert - not the best quality but worth it. Can you tell I'm a fan of Manuel Göttsching?!! He was only 70. Plus we lost Klaus Schulze earlier this year.
Both were improvisers, and I recently (re-)discovered the improvisational side of another fallen hero of mine, Cliff Burton. There's a video where he's playing at a battle of the bands pre-Metallica, with Jim Martin later of Faith No More.
I love how they go from a riff to just opening up, then back to a different riff. Improvisational metal?!! That's something I always wanted to do. The freak-out sections could almost be seen as ambient metal? It also got me to go back to Master of Puppets - an album I listened to a lot when it came out while I was in high school, but never tried to play along to - that's what I've been working on lately, thus no synths, though I've been thinking of trying to do something with the intro to Orion...
Finally, for Bandcamp Friday I picked up the new Free Form Funky Freqs album - for you Jamaladeen Tacuma fans! I love his playing with this group - though I wish he'd break out the effects like on the Mirakle album with Derek Bailey!

is it louder than the og hm-2? cause, imo, that pedal did not put out enough volume.

It might come to that... as usual I found I can't get rid of the Castle.
I'll see how the promised Christmas bonus turns out. Maybe I'll get the Mystic and then tell myself it's in lieu of the Forge Time Vhikk 2 when that's released... and then when the Vhikk 2 is released I'll tell myself I'm getting that instead of some other thing. It's a strategy that has worked for me so far.
Hadn't seen that particular vid before but it makes me happy I pre-ordered the Mystic when they announced it
Cliff Burton changed the entire trajectory of heavy metal. He's one of those people who can be imitated, sure, but not replaced. He belongs on the Mount Rushmore of heavy metal, as far as I'm concerned. And I've been saying for a long time that metal needs more improvisation! Unfortunately I don't have the qualifications to pull it off so I'm stuck sitting on the sidelines waiting for someone else to make it happen.

Bass- Nano Ona (I have two) into an L—1 Dual Discrete VCF

If you have one with cv input you can run any audio in through the cv inputs and then assign it as a fm source (or use it for any number of other mods with the mod matrix).
the other night i okayed in tijuana for a pretty nice concert commemorating i treaty. 5 folks from baja california, 3 from alta california.

the main reason i’m posting is because i didn’t get to see the visuals when we were playing, but the woman who did them nailed, from what i can see.
