If you aren’t cheating you aren’t trying.27185252[/URL], member: 37282"]HAAAARRRSSSSHHHH. But not boring.
Here are my two for today and yesterday. Yesterday's was just a snippet of band practice run through granulation. Today was more on the same patch with Endless. I really need to get my head around that thing. It is a fantastic way to draw out the Radiguesque ringing of my Joranalogue but I think I'm not getting the "layer" function. Guess I'll watch a tutorial video or something.

I'll tell you a secret. I am fixing to cheat this weekend and crank out Monday's and Tuesday's to get me through the end of Jamuary.

Speaking easy embed, here's today's Jamuary post. I decided to mess with yesterday's recording in Bitwig's Grid. My immediate findings are software is more powerful but way less fun than hardware. I was able to mock up the patch I wanted but the control wasn't nearly as good as being able to use both my hands on a multi-knob interface. Also, two peaking filter harmonics gives you formant sounds, which I knew but I didn't consider.
Easy embed??I basically started using it for the easy embed on BBSes. I really hope <throws up a little in mouth> Funkwhale takes off.

Funk whale???
Help me out here, got home for the gig at 5am, my brain is barely able to keep me breathing atm.
Yeah, until the guitar solo comes in. I wonder what Wright is playing on. I don't know if I've told my Pink Floyd story on here but I was a huge Floyd head as a teenager. I bought all the records and even some bootlegs.
I realized for all my fussing with detuning oscillators on the synth, I had another instrument that would do it well, and with less effort. So I picked up my Lull 5-string, tuned it CGCCC* and ran it through the VTBass and the Cosmos with just the tin west bit of reverb. The sheer floppiness of the G string more or less guarantees every time through is detuned a few cents. Less control but it sounds pretty good. I could imagine setting a couple of these up, sampling them, and then running then through the ringing filters to achieve a different kind of Radigue effect.
I am Having Thoughts about my month of experimentation and will try and gather them over the next week or so.
In unrelated news, our friends like our duo music, which is a huge relief, and I'm just waiting for a proper mix critique from a sound engineer friend whom I'm paying to give it a serious listen. Probably more than we need to do, but there you go.
In more unrelated news, I'm calling @theunknowndude and @lucas303 to tell me more about Australian metal (I just figure with Lucas's tastes he might know something). I stumbled across Karnivool the other day and found it interesting. Maybe a little on the prog side of metal (good lord the vocals are high in the mix), but some interesting sounds and arrangements. What else am I missing from the last 20 years of Australian metal that I should be checking out? Awhile back @theunknowndude hipped me to Void of Vision years ago which I really liked.
* years ago I learned the CGCC tuning from Paul Malinowski (then of Shiner) and it's been one of my favourite bass tunings ever since.
