Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Good luck.

in today’s wall-punching news, I got a new case to reflect the new software for my QuNexus, then tracked down a screwdriver small enough to do the installation. Then it was time to update the firmware. I’m now stuck in an infinite loop where the KMI software says the QuNexus needs an update, then it “does” the update, then it tells me it needs an update.

to add insult to injury their “Zendesk” support interface (end me now) doesn’t let you manually enter the date of purchase. You have to manually scroll through the dates.

Reader, I bought it 10 years ago.

At least the current firmware works fine but I want the bleeding arpeggiator and sequencer.

Anyone here have experience with the DF Audio patch bay? I'm considering some home studio routing ideas and this might be a useful tool for a fair price.

I ordered an Electra One as a controller for Aalto and Bitwig, but I think I'm going to send it back. It's nice but it's still a fair amount of programming to get it to do what I want, and while the build quality is fantastic, I find I'm looking back and forth between the screen and the knobs too much. It feel like a controller for software, not a piece of hardware. Not enough of an upgrade over my DJTT MIDI Fighter Twister.

I've been learning my new Spectraphon, aka Spoon. It's pretty much new territory, exciting stuff.

So I've got more modules than rack space now and have to figure out how to deal with it. Right now Akemie's Castle is sleeping in a drawer, but I don't think I'm going to want to let it go. Maybe Spoon could take Shapeshifter in a fight once I learn the array creation stuff better, but that doesn't free up enough space. So what I'm thinking about is selling the Minibrute 2S, to grab a 6U or 7U case. If I ask myself whether I'd rather keep Akemie's Castle vs. the Minibrute, Castle absolutely wins.

Something I plan to try is playing the bass through Spectraphon, while also trying to track the bass's pitch.

I’m going to my first live show in years on Saturday. I don’t know how I feel.

I should expand on why I posted this here, other than just because we share various stuff.
The band I'm going to see:

Definitely an 80s/90s older school EBM/Industrial feel, though there are some ambient/atmospheric elements in a few songs. The bulk of the performance will be done on an Akai MPC, with live guitars (by my bud Matthew from Skinny Puppy). I'm curious how it will translate to a live performance, as compared to a traditional band or a pure DJ.

I have a feeling some of the folks here will appreciate the style/sounds.

I bet someone else in this group has run into this issue.

I have velcro on my H90 because it lives on a pedalboard. But I also want to use it tabletop sometimes. Of course rubber feet were included for that, but then it won't sit right on the pedalboard if I apply them. How do I stop a velcro-covered pedal from sliding around on the tabletop?
