Damn weight is the main thing that has kept me away from a few killer EB basses (same as G&L after owning several over 10 pounds). I didn’t need to hear this!
When that fretted one came, I could not belive how light it was, as my Wal 5 is well over 10. I've never played a bass this light that also sounds amazing.
My G&L L2K is 8.6#. I really like the feel of the Stingray Specials. They play so well. Also like Orange so congrats @lordradish

Picked up a new studio chair for some better back support while playing bass. I think I thought about this for too long and should’ve bought it sooner. Since I know we’ve got some achy breaky backs in this thread, here’s your reminder that self care helps you play more.
My only gripe is that the wheels are weight activated and barely roll unless you’re seated. They also seem to use a slightly smaller mounting post than “standard” so I couldn’t swap in a different set of extras I have.

i got a gaming chair cause i needed neck support (when my neck goes out i’m prone to vertigo). the arms don’t fold up quite enough so i can use it for playing, unfortunately.

I have a Herman Miller gaming chair for my office work but the arms don’t get out of the way enough to play bass. I considered a second one just to pop the arms off, but I wasn’t sure that was the best solution, and I didn’t want a second big chair. This one is about right.

I need to get a chair for my music room, too. Not because I have back problems or anything, but just because I need to sit in front of my synths with my bass in my lap and swivel around to reach stuff when jamming or recording. I haven't picked one out yet. Need to find one with folding arms.
I tried a few. Considered several online. One I never tried and couldn’t bring myself to experiment on for the price was the Wavebone. Name aside, I couldn’t find anyone who had IRL experience with them.

I had a cheapish gaming chair with arms that folded out of the way and that part was great... unfortunately not otherwise that comfortable or sturdy.
The arms not being removable or folding away is the only thing I don't like about my current chair (Andaseat Kaiser 3). It's comfortable enough to sleep in if you tilt it back and very solidly built. Bought myself that one once I started working from home again on a post-lockdown Black Friday.

Coincidentally, I finally got around to doing something with my studio chair that I should've done ~3 years ago: I swapped out the oversized skateboard wheels for standard office chair wheels...which allowed me to get the entire chair about 1.5" closer to the floor, and voila! reduced the strain on my lower back significantly!
Bonus points for me because I was smart enough to save that alternate set of wheels that the chair shipped with 3 years ago! But I never should have waited, I've known it was a little too high since I got it.
Otherwise it checks off a lot of boxes: Arms fold up enough to play bass, headrest/neck support, pretty comfy, not too expensive... now if only I could remember who it's made by! Sadly, no make or model # markings on it at all. But it was one of the recommended models listed in a "Best Office Chairs Of 2021" article in Wired or maybe The New York Times, so it shouldn't be too hard to find something similar these days.

I found a guy on the local Craigslist who buys up the chairs from offices that are closing down and liquidating in the Denver area (more and more common since Covid with people working from home). He had a huge 3-car garage filled with stacked office chairs at his house of all sorts. I bought a matching pair of barely-used fancy $900 (each retail) Sit-on-it Novo chairs for $150 for the pair and just took the arms off one of them for playing bass/guitar (though I could play decently with the arms on I preferred one to use more like a stool anyway) and use the other as my regular desk chair. Easily the most comfy desk chairs I've ever used and look really nice too (the ones I grabbed have fancy custom vintage orange upholstery). You might check your local Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace for similar dudes
