I actually don’t and think it’s bad… alpha wolf albums have gone from clean good mixes to bad mixes of walls of noise that I blame on them developing this pedal lol.
I like my walls of noise in metal but not when everything is just a wall of white noise with no definition! It’s just everyone fighting the same sonic space or something meh
I just saw someone saying about recording with their h4… I’ll have to dig mine out!
Still laptopless but my savings are close… but trying a Dawless setup although need more power supplies with my using effects on my Mooer drummer and on the Microbrute plus the bass board. None of my pedals even take 9v anymore hah!

been radio-silent for a bit (strangely busy).
don’t know if you all remember, hut i posted about something that seemed interesting: the spotykach, which is a dual-channel looper/mangler. i ended up getting a prerelease release (i.e., get needed funds, beta-testing early version fw) and have been pretty happy. the people doing the fw, etc., are on top of things and are listening to us early users/adopters.
so, i figured i’d do a little promo for them as they’re doing another prerelease round.

Not sure I mentioned it, but I bought a Pedal Partners x Maneco Mesmeriser...
A lot of shoegaze doesn't do all that much for me, but this is more like the Lovesliescrushing thing, noisy lo-fi ambient drone goodness. Definitely not a general-purpose reverb or even all that suitable for general ambient. (You can kind of make it work, with some post-filtering, but there are a lot of more suitable pedals for the job...) But for the noisier end of things, and as a drone texture monster, it's pretty fantastic. It's right along the same lines as the Strega-into-wavefolder thing that I like to do.
The thing is, mine is broken -- it's not stereo, the effect is entirely mono. And it has a tendency to crash every once in a while (the digital part of the effect stops, the switches no longer do anything, and I have to power it off and wait a couple minutes before powering it back on to get it going again).
Maneco is going to replace it, but since they sold out of the second wave, I'm waiting for another one to be built.
It still sounds amazingly good for my purposes even in mono and I'm going to keep using it up until it's time to ship it back. Haven't tried it on the Miezo yet, or pedal steel, just synths so far...

I really need to dive into my reverb pedals and learn some stuff when I get a chance, especially the Eventide Blackhole. I haven't yet taken the time to get the most out of it.
In the meantime, I've been dorking around with another stupid science project: building crystal radio sets. The idea of a homemade radio that is powered only by the radio transmissions themselves is cool, and the idea is eventually to use a low power AM transmitter to send a music signal from, say, a synth or my amp's headphone output and record it over the airwaves for a cool lo fi project. I have a working crystal receiver and low power transmitter, and they work, so when I figure out what I want to do maybe I can cook something up. This may be months in the future.
No real idea why I'm doing this, just for the hell of it I guess.

i’ve have friends who liked the maneco stuff pretty well. seems to be legit.
not generally into this kinda thing, but gated non-linear reverb got my attention.

Unfortunately no. There was a point where I was really tempted, but couldn't find one at a price that made sense. I wound up with the Elmyra 2 and figure it's pretty similar in its general attitude.

The replacement Mesmerizer arrived, and it had exactly the same issue as the first one: mono effect only. I wrote to Maneco, describing how I'd tried different things to confirm it wasn't a mistake on my end, saying that I still thought it sounded great even in mono (just not quite like the videos), and asking if I should ship one back. He said, just keep them both. So now I have it in stereo (or serial, multiband, dual independent effects or whatever...)

I just released my new album this morning. There's more open space on some tracks, it's not *all* relentless drones this time. But still plenty of noisy drone textures to be had. There's one track that's solely the Miezo and a ludicrous amount of processing.

you like the elmyra? that’s been the other thing i’ve been looking at. the eowave has worries for me in that it seems like it has pitch quantized in semitones as a default, which is not something i want. the elmyra does not, is that correct? also emyra is usb c power, correct?

I feel seen. Someone started a thread on this. I was definitely interested. I’m curious how it compares to other PLL devices.
Yeah, Elmyra 2 is pretty fun. It does have quantization but I think it's off by default (and is a single button press to toggle it). Among the many "secret combos" in the manual are some to change the quantization to 7, 9, 15 or 17EDO if 12 is too vanilla, and to save the settings so it starts up that way next time by default.
(I printed a few of those codes on a sticker for the side of the case facing me., but I don't find myself needing most of them anyway. )
i’m all about close quarter tones and so forth, so locked-in semitones are not my thing for the most part.
