I was screwing around with a bunch of pedals and some stereo stuff and ended up getting some cool sounds out of it all...

some really interesting stuff. i was actually more enamored by what was going on in the stereo field behind the main bass voice.

what's going on back there?

2: Zoom MS60b > MFOS envelope filter > RC1 > amp (Orange crush 112 with a crappy guitar speaker instead of a proper bass speaker...)

Thanks! I'm starting to try to incorperate some of these sounds into something I can play live and build an ambient/doom/spacey thing or album out of it.

YEP. He's awesome tho. My partner is out of town on a work trip so i'm slowly losing my mind at home. Just be glad you couldn't hear what was on the TV, lol...

Also... I love this bass.
I got it form another TB member and with a bit of tuning up and tweaking its turned into a fantastic playing bass. Signal change

I have a lot I want to play around with on the signal change for the orange side.... I just was messing around and stumbled on some of that madness... I still have some other things i can do with that I think. I gotta tear into my envelope filter though its acting kinda funky.

Embarrassing confession. Several months ago I bought a eurorack module called Ornament and Crime. Found most of OT's functions extremely weird to learn so I just never used it. Last night, I found a great tutorial on one of its functions called an 'Analog Shift Register.' Basically allows simultaneous control of 4 VCO's to tweak scales, pitch, offsets...all kinds of stuff. Stayed up all night trying to wrap my head around it and I can't say I totally did, but it worked and I had a blast

I kinda formulated one after a few hours. With some things, I can be a painfully slow learner and it's not really a great piece of music, but it was super fun and put a bunch of new possibilities in my head

You gotta have a plan, even if it's a weak one and/or the results aren't the best. Right now, I'm working on arranging a few vocal lines my friend cut over a beat. I wanted to build a track around it, but I want sure how. So, I stole a song structure from a tune I liked and cut up verse and chorus sections and started organizing things. It's not a chart topper, but it's better than the pile of parts and a broken compass I had a week ago

I did a synth gig in front of a fairly large number of people the other night (the headliner guy drew a crowd) and for once I nailed everything spot on.

So that post I made about being discouraged a few pages ago, yeah, forget about that for now. Feeling pretty good at the moment.

Learning keys ftw!!!

It's not about learning keys so much as it's about managing all this machinery in front of me, setting it up, operating it at the right time in the correct sequence to emit the music and sounds I am trying to emit. Lots of rehearsal is key, but so is giving yourself enough time to set up and connect everything at the venue, plus I had time to practice my set in headphones before I took the stage, just to be sure.

Keyboard playing? Yeah, I still suck at that for the most part. Ain't no Liberace over here, that's for sure.
