Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

YAH. That's the stuff!

That is sick. Love it.

Thanks!
FYI - It is the delay/reverb combo setting that is generating the big washy, swampy sounds that inspired it. The pedal has an analog delay running in parallel for a bit of extra color. The only post-processing I did was to run a Waves X noise repair plugin to kill some hiss I was getting. Otherwise, it was fingers to bass, then a bit of preamp and subtle dirt, though a cab sim, into a compressor, into the Echo, into the Zoom recorder.

Funny you mention E5150, been on a Dio-era Sabbath kick lately. That track legitimately scared me the first time I heard it, listening to it in headphones one night.

When I was a young lad, I bought Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss right before a trip to a mountain cabin. I was out walking through the woods listening to it on a walkman when the little kid voice kicked in on Dead Skin mask. I pulled the headphones off and looked around for the source of the voice. I darn near shipped my pants.

Thanks!

EXquisITe!

I love Empress' stuff: got the Tremolo, MultiDrive and ParaEQ — top notch all of it and I've had/still have GAS for the Compressor and Reverb, but the GAS I had for all the various Empress delays was extinguished when the EchoSystem came out. Man I would love to put together an all Empress Board... And an all Dr Scientist Board and ... and ... and then mix all the boards together.

Listening to "Fretless Echos" again, now.

It's like whale music, but the biggest MF Moby Dick ehvvvvaaahhrrrr...
Somebody should hire you for some soundtrack work.

Right?!
I wanted to sell the Pig after getting the Empress. I wanted to keep as many pedals at 9v as I could, so I minimized the risk of frying one. The Empress is also a bit smaller. However, I had created one piece for live performances which relied on that Halo sound, so I couldn't bring myself to sell the Pig. Every time I hear that sound, it reminds me why I keep it.

It's also a dandy pedal. I just didn't want to deal with owning two high-end delay pedals. I've become more comfortable with my indulgence.

It's here. It melts faces.
Spent an hour on it and was late for work.
Can't wait to add sp 404 sampler and my red panda particle....

:)

please make a demo! I want to hear that thing!

I just got a new eurorack synth. A Cwejman SM-1. The CB most expensive module I'm likely to ever buy again, but it's pretty great. Did a noisy percussion jam with it

Hey, folks..

There's one more mono spot left on my bypass looper, and got space for one more on board #2, so looking for a recommendation. My ideas...

Current board is this, with it going to stereo starting with the Enzo:
EHX Mel9-
SA Aftershock-
Meris Enzo-
Boss MD-500-
Strymon El Cap-
Meris Polymoon-
Eventide H9-
Meris Merc 7-
Aeros Loop Studio.

Generally. I'll use the Mel9 or the Enzo as my base sound, then mod the hell out of it with what comes after. I get a lot of great stuff out of it, as you can imagine. I'm looking for one more foundational pedal, to go either before or after the Mel9, so I'm basically looking for some other thing to use for my basic sound to tweak the heck out of, that obv. sounds different than the Mel or the Enzo. I want something that sounds like neither, and hopefully can do some sustainy pad like stuff. I tend not to go for super dirt/aggressive sounds, I'm more of an old-school ambient player. Also like bubbly stuff, like the EQ Arpanoid, but I think that one's kinda limited.

I used to have a Superego, fun as it was, I don't think that's what I'm looking for. Also, don't have space for something big, prob no bigger than a typical Strymon or Meris.

Any suggestions, and why you think it's good? Thanks.
