Cool, what French music??

It can go from Debussy to Brassens to Felix Leclerc to Edgar Varèse....

It was a variety of songs. There was a duo with a keyboardist who also played accordion, and a female vocalist singing in French. I didn't recognize any of the material.

also marc ducret is one of rhe best improvising guitarists around, imo.

reed player louis sclavis has been doing great stuff for years.

Tried to keep it under 3 minutes. I'd like to have been under 1, but it's a slow moving piece.
Starting around 1:30 you get some obvious clock rate adjustments. Not exactly how I'd opt to "perform" it but more as an example of what the machinery is up to.

The sequence is running into layered Massive and Absynth synth patches, which are being sent through a Waves A-H Stereo Delay (worth checking if you work "in the box").

I was out drinking absinthe last night and listening to french music, so there's my inspiration.

Pretty nice! It reminds me of the first track in Aphex Twin's album Drukqs (a great album, if you haven't heard it).

Yes! I love Ducret's playing on those Tim Berne records, especially the two Caos Totale discs. And the Bloodcount Paris Concert trifecta. And ...

Agreed. Like Keith Jarrett ruining his own sets by moaning non stop.

(That and being a complete @$$ hat, saw him live with the trio....he gave the audience hell after the encore. Douche ta cular)

It's like podcasts that compress everything so hard that all you hear is mouth-sounds in your headphones. One I listen to has a dude slamming his ring against his coffee mug. I want to amputate that finger, or wrap it in bubble wrap.

As usual, when visiting my family in New Jersey on holidays, I brought along a small amount of gear and holed myself up in the bedroom I slept in as a teenager to record something while taking a break from family. This time I brought with me a Volca FM synth, an Arturia Keystep MIDI keyboard/sequencer, a pedalboard, and my Westone Spectrum GT bass, as well as a small amp and a TASCAM 8-track recorder.

The Volca FM is playing the main sequence as well as the dramatic stabs or whatever you call them, using the Keystep.

The pads in the background is the bass played through the Boss SY-1, along with some Joyo Flanger and the Caroline Lo-Fi Reverb. The Reverb pedal also provides the runaway feedback effect in spots.

Mixing it on the Tascam I did some panning and stuff. I'm really loving the SY-1; I want to do a series of bass recordings with it.
