That Tracker...pretty sure I ‘get it,’ just not sure if I’d enjoy it. Possibly, but first I think I’m gonna wipe my Octatrack drive and load in new samples. Always tons of stuff to be learned on that monster.
Maybe I need to download a Renoise demo and test it out. Maybe I just want a software tracker. The DAW version is only $75. And there's a Redux thing for $65, which is more of a synth with tracking sequencing.

From what I gather, Renoise is a lot more complex than the Polyend. Like, a lot more
Sure. But it’s a tracker experience for a much lower cost. Checking Redux demos now. That will nest in Ableton as a VST.
But it looks like The Matrix. You gotta program wearing mirrored glasses and a leather coat.

My experiences have been quite limited, tending toward caffeine and alcohol. Occasionally deviating from that path hasn’t provided me with a fact pattern to make any projections on others.
i had a misspent youth (and have dabbled a few times over the last 40 years).

It’s a 250 gig drive with a bunch of non music production stuff along with a bunch of music production stuff. I need to do some cleanup. The download is 35 gig for the DAW. I need to download it to an external drive then transfer it to my dedicated production laptop, which has plenty of space. I avoid connecting the production laptop to the web. If I’m ever out at a gig with it, I don’t want traces of personal info if it get swiped.
The good news is that I might have an excuse to get a new machine in the next year or two. I’m looking at the new Mac Mini to be the centerpiece. Those things are fast, small, and have plenty of hardware connection ports.
