i think we lost something here.

i was talking about an interview with rolf, the developer of the quantum/iridium, who was talking about some of what they were thinking about for the 3.0 firmware.

Sorry, I was following you and love Waldorf stuff. I’ve just read about too many companies releasing products, then have to scramble to get the firmware caught up. Some early adopters if the iridium in other forums have said they feel this way about that synth too. I’d still buy one right now if I could, just pointing something out

interesting. i haven't been following those. doubling interesting that most of if is based on the quantum (except the voice count and digital filters).

i did watch people have questions about the hydrasynth firmware . . . some of which showed me they hadn't rtfm or didn't understand how polyphonic aftertouch worked . . . sometimes this stuff makes me question people's "reviews" of things.

in any event, the interview i cited was rolf talking about *new stuff* he wanted to do (including mpe). imo, most software has bugs, so it comes down to how the developer responds to people reporting them.

my experience years ago with rolf was on the nlog app for ios. there were some bugs that i found and let him know about them. he was very receptive and fixed them. i think that's a really important trait for folks like this.

In boring basement punk\OG news.

Finally got the boss RV-6 reverb, spent quite a bit of time with it and compared it to the on-board FX of my mixer and the Joyo Ironman Space Verb.

Used noise synths, 2 different bass’ , sm57 and contact mic as input sources.

Results:
The Joyo and onboard FX of my old dusty\crusty mixer sounded better to my ears.
The Joyo had less headroom than the boss, but that is not a big problem for me and is easy to « fix ».

The mixer FX have less « tweakability » but the sounds are way thicker, defined and « lush ».....(insert meaningless word to describe sound here). 16 FX with 16 variations of each, total of 256 settings. I can work with that.

I had to record everything to make sure I wasn’t crazy. (Insert old fart jokes here.)

Boss reverb already sold.

Never used reverb live except when I was doing FOH.

at least i said "i think" . . . not sure i "know" a lot, mostly i try to find what i like or think works. i've played with one guy who has his reverb game down . . . but his stuff can be super dense—and with a drummer, forget it; reverb is not gonna work in dense passages—dreamy or ambient stuff, sure.

Probably not “in” with all you guys talking about jazz and what not... but I’m loving the static x regeneration album... scratching my itch of heavy music where you can hear the bass AND plenty of electronics going on.

Oh, okay, I thought you were referring to the shortcomings Loopop mentioned in the review.

Probably not “in” with all you guys talking about jazz and what not... but I’m loving the static x regeneration album... scratching my itch of heavy music where you can hear the bass AND plenty of electronics going on.

You never hear me talk about my heavy music itch because King Crimson is Old Fart Music. Yeah, that's about it for me.

i'm about an hour into the loopop review. tbh, at this point it didn't seem like anything that made me think it was a fatal flaw.
