Actually no....the new AC Noises AMA v2 reverb came out today...(reverb/bit crusher). It ended up costing more than I had expected for sure. It checks off some reverb boxes for me, though....100% wet, self oscillation footswitch, sounds gorgeous, and can even get a bit weird with the bit crusher. Definitely worth a shot!

....now I'm just keeping my eye out for a Pladask Draume and Taken.

was playing w my Romferd a bunch tonight. That one checks a lot of boxes too, but it’s a weird bird. It Always leaves me w a metallic feeling.

I’m not sure where this is going to arrive, but the Sol Invictus A/B channel features are doing what I hoped. I’ve got a clean A channel going into my mixer. I’ve got a dirty B channel going into an effects chain with a cab sim, and some reverb and delay effects, along with a volume pedal in that chain. I’m able to volume-swell in the ambient distorted/effected B channel as the clean A decays.

I might need to rig up the Zoia here to blend and fade between the two sounds. As it is, I can select A, B, or A+B.

...and in the spirit of climbing mountains simply because they are there, I plugged the Dunwich Wizard fuzz into the Sol Invictus preamp. Fortunately, I was able to keep things under control since it was after 10pm and I share a wall. That said, I fully expect to melt faces tomorrow like someone popped the top on the Ark of the Covenant.

I've got the Volt Thrower. Mine has a Ge diode in one of the Si positions.
Gasoline wasn't my thing.

I seem to remember you mentioning this and I totally get it. It’s a nice stacking pedal to me, but I rarely use dirt boxes anyway. Even when they don’t shrink low end, I usually feel less punch. Weird hang up, but here we are

Well, dirt is a form of compression, so you've limited your dynamics. That tends to happen in higher frequencies, so the punch limitation is understandable. I think that's an issue with clean blends, since the clean isn't compressed the dynamics don't scale the way they do with the dirt, and you can easily get two signals that seem out of sync.

I think that's an issue with clean blends, since the clean isn't compressed the dynamics don't scale the way they do with the dirt, and you can easily get two signals that seem out of sync.

Either total fail or very functional depending on the pedal.
Nothing in between. From the ones I've personally tried anyways.....

Not to taunt your wallet, but the MBD-1 I had was pretty nice. The Damnation Bloop mimics it with a loop you can insert any dirt pedal (or time/modulation/etc.). I believe there is a ~1k roll-off on the clean blend.

Nothing to taunt.
No new gear for me for a long time on my end.

Only thing I got since the FUBAR is a used boss dd7 and a Radial splitter. Oh...and a small contact mic.....

I can make it with what I got. I'm use to it.

No one is gonna hear the difference in dirt sounds in my band anyways......hahah

Ill just go on the hunt for some free pluggins that dont suck [email protected] find something cool.

i use three elements *because* they have blend that is accessible by exp pedal.

using different eq curves (really low, mids, highs), i can get different overtones and change them on the fly. i can also play a few regular notes and then pull in distortion for color as i want.

Awesome set up. Very cool idea with the different EQ on the 3 pedals.
Do you have any phase issues using those ??

So today sitting at my desk at work my mind randomly drifted off and started thinking about EQ pedals...because...well, why not?

One of my band's guitarists has his rig setup down pat. He uses Boss reverb and delay pedals, the 500 series I think, in the bigger housings, and he uses a Boss EQ pedal, all through the effects loop of his amp, and it always sounds great. (He's a Boss Believer)

For some reason I've never done much research or experimentation with EQ pedals on bass, but he's been trying to convince me, and now I'm thinking...

the boss eq-200 looks very cool.

i have two of the larger eq-10(?) pedals. being able to drop in different eq at the drop of a hat is very cool. (twangy chords to full-on dub in a split-second? yes please.)

That mirrors my experiences as well, but I’ve not gone nearly as deep into the rabbithole as some others, so...

For whatever reason, I’ve had better luck with just gain structure and hand dynamics over a pedal for what I like. I still like and occasionally use dirt boxes, but not often. I’ve had good luck with Logics bit crusher plugin, oddly

phase issues? maybe, but at high saturation levels, i’m more into creating/morphing different overtones/textures and riding them as far as i can.
phasing? probably. don’t care. aliasing in the sp-404? do you care that much?

totally. compressed and gated, which is why i dislike most, as i prefer a more open sound.

Nope I dont care at all, artifacts galore.
Ohhh yes. Truncating by ear......painfully fun and wall punching at the same time.
