Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

I'm just too lazy to learn another DAW.

Lemme just say this... if you know how to use a DAW, it's not a stretch to use another. In the past 30 years, I've used Cubase, Cakewalk (then later, Sonar), Vegas, Ableton, Acoustica Mix Pro, Pro Tools, whatever the Presonus one is, Mackie Traktion(remember that?) and finally settled on Reaper. I'm glad I've used all of those. I still go back and use Ableton when I want to use loops, but in the last year, with so much good hardware, I'm pretty much trying to use the computer as a DAW and that's it.

Yes, the 128 gets powered by the USB. Any USB power supply will work.

Did someone here tell me about the Neunaber Wet plugin? Just starting using it for some tracks...OH MAN!!!!! Just perfect. I love it so much.

Love the pedal but haven’t tried it ITB (basically I always have 2 Valhalla plug-ins on my sends).

Honestly, I have some old USB power supplies laying around, and extra A-B cables. I’m not a reliable authority.

I think something like the charger in the link below plus a USB-A to USB-B cable of your preferred length would work. You could also ask Roger Linn directly when you order:

brilliant. in thought it might be something like that, but was trying to be sure.

He just responded to me with his gear rundown:

"8-string Hagstrom split through EHX Mel9 and Korg Toneworks G5 synth pedal. 'clean' tone running through the 6x10, FX running through the Jazz Chorus"

@hieronymous -- do you have any more information about how it's actually going down? As in, is he triggering the pads with his feet, or with select notes, or something else? Just trying to figure out how he's got it set up. My wife and I watched it and we're thinking this might be a nice thing to integrate into our duo act. (Though the other option is having her trigger the synth from something on the drum set).

I wish I knew! These guys are amazing, I've seen them live and they usually use a lot of sequencers, or he plays the keyboards, when I saw them he didn't have any bass pedals. For this one, in the comments someone requested one of their old synth heavy songs and Steve Moore (the bassist) replied, "Sorry drums and bass only for this set " You saw the signal chain I posted? bass and drums in real time is what i got (a couple of tiny time glitches in there lead me to that conclusion).

i think the clean and dirty blend is giving the illusion of triggering stuff. probably a slow attack on the synth pedal?
