i strangely met ian at a memorial service cause my cuz is good friends with those folks from her days in the dc punk scene.

I learned it when I found out that FUGAZI was the Dude from Minor Threat in a mag. They also mentioned where the term came from.

This thread is crazy... not as quick moving and crazy as the Broughton one but I think getting there...
And yep, all the jazz and stuff I can’t relate to I skip over but this thread is still probably the most interesting “ongoing” one on talkbass for me!
On a random side note I got asked to join a band that was a mix of hardcore / metal / ambient influences... thought ok I’ll ask the wife and try and make it to a jam... until they told me they had 5 shows already booked and a small tour amongst a few hours drive all in February that I can’t commit to being a family man and all... ah wells... more opportunities later (fwiw we are not at pre covid but can have small crowds with limited tickets available... and more often than not it’s sit down shows... weird for rock/metal/etc but I guess it’s better than having the music scene die!)

I have a lot of listening to catch up on in this thread.
Broke out the Erica modular and just started plating with the white, pink, and crushed noises. I was sick of wave forms and pitches, so i just modulated the static. Add delay. Wait for letter from neighbors.

thanks. That was all effects in the Blooper, overdubbing onto themselves: it’s basically instant Basinki.
Was it here we were all talking about strings/string tension? If so, I got something important wrong. A round core has less tension than a hex core. If you want lighter tension then look for a round core string.
