So, here's how out-of-the-loop I am: I only just this week discovered that Korg not only has an ARP 2600 clone coming out (the "
2600-M" model), but they already made (and sold out of) a different limited-edition ARP 2600 clone some time ago!
And if it wasn't for Facebook I probably wouldn't have known that Behringer also offers a couple of ARP 2600 clones (...but, it's Behringer, so eff them).
I'm a big fan of the 2600. When I was a wee lad in undergrad I spent four semesters locked up in the college's synthesis lab, which at the time consisted of all ARP gear: Two 2600s, one 2500, four Odysseys, a String Ensemble, and a Sequencer. Always liked the "semi-modular" architecture of the 2600. It seems to reward experimentation and curiosity while also being rather efficient in terms of allowing you to
re-create essential sounds if necessary.
Anyhow...anyone have any opinions on these Korg clones?
