ALL THREE OF MY GLUTES hurt reading that — gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and my gluteus minimus. And my knees.
Sucks being tall on any public transportation, and all-things designed for the humanoid average, the mean is mean. No, the Median is mean. Whatever, I suck at math.

Seats too low so the thighs aren't supported at all and all pressure is pin-point exerted on the Glutes. Meanwhile the backrest is curved in such a way to offer zero support to your lumbar — it all curves in the exact opposite way its needed, top and bottom, with the upper part of the backrest diggin in just below your shoulderblades.

Meanwhile the idjit in the seat in front of you is trying to recline through your knees and then the flight attendant comes along to the 45º dinner tray and starts bouncing it down upon your knees so she can try to set your meal down on never-to-be flat surface... BUSSES DOING MILK-RUNS, TAXING TAXIS... YOU MUST BE (UNDER) THIS TALL TO GO ON THIS RIDE...

@ugly_bassplayer: bad boy. keep the reverb next time (and there will be a next time).

touring: i've enjoyed touring more in my later years than in my early 20s (20–23), when i did 10 months out of the year for three years in the 70s. a lot of week-long engagements in place like dayton ohio (okay, we did nyc, boston, sf, chicago, but i had to lead with the bad place ) if the music and the people are cool, it can be a lot of fun. i like couch-surfing, etc. it also helps if they're small bursts and not a long slog. i don't like long-ass drives (though we did boston to l.a. in 63 hours in a 5-ton truck in 78 or so, which has some bragging rights attached).

venue story: a friend of mine played in the carpenters' backup band when they played at the white house for nixon. the drummer in the group (when karen didn't play) was "cubby" from the "mouseketeers." my friend overheard someone ask cubby how it was playing the white house. his response:

"ah, they're all toilets."

H9 seems awesome, didn’t know it did od and dirt.
How’s the pitch shifter?? My main issue with pitch shifters and harmonizers is the « brittle slightly metallic » sound (EHX pitchfork is worst for that, I use mine for 3 octave down dive bombs or minor 2nd screeches.). Best one I found to get power chords with my dual rig band is the T-Rex quint machine. I run it post HM-2 set to spinal tap 11.

I still have a Micro POG on the board for polyphonic shifting up an octave, but for monophonic, and pitched delays, the eventide is great and has several options, including filters for the pitch-shifted signals. The octaver has fuzz and an envelope filter. There's a Digitech whammy-like algorithm that does ok polyphonically as long as you don't give it a 3rd -- then it vomits. But I can get some nice Tom Morello sounds out of it on high notes.

You might not like the H9 interface though, it does take some learning. Pitchfactor has way more options at your fingertips, but even there, it's not 1 knob per function. You might have to consult the manual.

Has never reached wall-punching status for me though. The H9 always does what it's supposed to do.

Re: touring and gigs. I hate the sitting around in venues thing, but for an academic it's not so bad. There's always some work to do. My wife and I have a fantasy of touring as a duo. We're old enough that we would probably just stay in comfortable places and lose money, at which point it's just a vacation where you get to perform.

And yes, I'm an idiot for selling a reverb to buy a reverb.

And.....a rv-500 popped up locally for a fair price.
And yes, I can be pushed over the edge to buy it very easily.

it's a pretty nice verb. the non-linear stuff lone . . . then the ability to do the ecm one reverb into another thing . . . etc.

I think it would definitely fit nicely into my workflow.
Currently bouncing stuff from my sp to my 4 track back and forth using resample.
Making pseudo tape loop kind of stuff.
(When i say back and forth i mean non stop)
I put the tensor in between and my dd7, the verb would another fine tool for this.

I don’t generally feel the need for stereo with spring reverbs. But I don’t actually think I want this. Points for cleverness, though. If you want a weird spring reverb, I think this has more potential (no I don’t have it either):
