I don't use VST's as much as I used to, but I do have 2 and it's a great synth with a great interface. It can do a lot.

Up to about 10 years ago I kept my hair short, and I wore a nice fedora sometimes, but only when I also wore a suit and preferably, an overcoat. Being an engineer who had to go to conferences from time to time, I got some pretty good use out of that hat. But when I grew my hair out again I had to hang up the hat, until the day comes when I cut my hair again. Because if you are going to wear a fedora, you have to complete the look or it just won't work. For example:

I am more of an Ingrid Bergman fan myself.
Although my favorite Bogart film is probably The Maltese Falcon. Loves me some good film noir.

Yeah, I'm excited, alright. I like those unusual fine lines in the grain of the wood. Also, Maur just told me he has new custom strings that will be available, that will get that bottom string down to a low E, so that's even more exciting.
How can a string that short play a low E without being as loose as a rubber band?

I don't know. I know the other custom ones he have that will allow it to go to a low B are pretty damn thick. I didn't get those, because it had to be set up for them, and I didn't want to be locked into having to get them, esp if they're unavail, some day. These new ones don't require that. I'll letcha know when I finally get em and try.

But I’ve tried a crap load of string brands and styles over the years and always come back to d’addario. Why, I just like them I guess...?
Only thing that kinda sux now is that my 76 Pbass is retired, so I have only one E standard tuned bass. So I can’t have my usual one with dead rounds and one with dead flats.
That’s ok, I dont have any 3 week stretches coming up.
15 mins before showtime is not the time to order a custom set online in the middle of nowhere.
but hey, I say use whatever makers you happy and play the *&^&*&^%& out of that bass.

I think, if I like the customs, I'll just make sure I always have a spare set on hand. They're a bit pricy, like buying high-end strings, about 100 a set. That said, in 35+ years of playing, I've broken like 2 strings, and it was during set up.
I don't have any gigs lined up, yet. I don't see me using this in conventional gigs, although when I get the synth duo back up, I may use this with the pedalboard, as it's small enough I can just sling it around my back and not have it get in the way.
I don't think it's nearly as sexy as yours is gonna be. This was sort of a spontaneous luxury buy, so I wanted to keep it pretty basic. But I'm thinking, depending on how finances shake out in the next year, of having Maur build me a 6 string fretless.
In definitely can imagine incorporating that little thing in the synth duo to great effect.

Hell, yeah. Lay down some textures with the synths then start playing some ebow.
Use a well tuned violin like Nigel Tufel instead of the ebow.
