Reverse P.What's the front pickup -- looks like a split coil of some kind?
What the :$;&;$: is that neck pickup26271877[/URL], member: 76495"]Shipping tomorrow! And it weighs about 3 pounds less than my Wal 5 string.

Used Wals are now going for about 10 grand.Thread Drift: Speaking of "*stupid* prices"...
Reverse P.
Whatcha wanna know? Reverse P and a big split on the bridge. Hoping for a rather ballsy P/J sound (although I am constantly second guessing myself about not going with a double MM setup). What the :$;&;$: is that neck pickup
Wow
Reverse P
Care to inquire??
Yeah, they had to put it in a MM case, as apparently, they don't make too many 6 string P's at Nordstrand.Just their regular reverse P in a bigger case? Nice.

Bartolini
Volume, blend, high, mid, low. It's the Bartolini pre with the fretless option (diff eq curve, I think). What's the layout of those electronics? Can't tell from the pics whether any are stacked pots...atza lotta knobs either way!
Love Tom's work, that's a gorgeous bass. Worth the wait.

Okay, I seriously didn't think about that. I go with 16.5 mm spacing on my basses, so I'd really have to think about that. I'd assume Nordy could do it. But thanks for bringing that up. I have to look into that. I can't remember what the spacing is on my Stingray. I think Bongo 6's are 19mm but I haven't checked in a while.your bass is a tight spacing, right? wouldn't the mm magnets be a little big for that?
nice looking instrument

While I was at work today I started thinking again about pitch tracking for the bass, and made a short list of options. I figured I was probably going to wind up springing for a Sonicsmith Converter E1, and accepting that it might not be perfect.
But I tried JamOrigin Bass to MIDI, and found it works surprisingly well for my purposes. Tracking is pretty good and latency is totally acceptable for me. It works not just for triggering software synths, but tweaking parameters in Bitwig Grid or VCV Rack (e.g. filter cutoff, especially with comb filters!) and converting to CV to send to the modular. The plugin has an option to convert envelope follower to Aftertouch messages, which is handy for synths like Aalto or Buchla Easel V.
Mutable Instruments Rings in Western Chords Mode blew me away. Having it track pitch while processing the bass, and send aftertouch to Damping to control dynamics is just delicious. It ranges from pretty conventional-sounding to completely weird in some of the other modes. I also had it doing crazy stuff with Ensemble Oscillator, and with just a simple oscillator but ring-modulated against the bass. (Honestly, even just doubling a synth with the bass without getting fancier is pretty great.)
I'm going to try out some other software to see if there's something even better, but JamOrigin definitely serves my purposes.
