nice. fwiw, i think most of us here don't qualify as keyboard players. sounds like you got some vibrato out of the polyafter touch—or was that something else.?
i have a favor to ask: can you not use dropbox? i have to download it on whatever device i'm using to listen to stuff . . . which is both less convenient than soundcloud (at least for me) and i get nervous about downloading stuff due to security issues. just my 2¢ and sorry if this make me a di*k.

I'm studying a little about harmony for 4 voices, and currently focusing on barbershop ideas (thanks youtube). I came up on the whole bass, guitar, vocal arrangement from the thrash and grind of the 80's and 90's and never gave the subject much thought. I just figured the guitar had a riff, the bass played it an octave lower, and the signer screamed. Now, I'm thinking:
1. How many monophonic voices do I have (synth and bass) and what do I want to do with them?
2. What's the underlying chord change and what's the melody?
3. If the "bass" part bangs out the chord roots and the "lead" part bangs out the melody, then how would I arrange the tenor and baritone voices?
This isn't groundbreaking stuff, but it's not how I typically think about playing or writing. I'm modeling a few things with midi and soft synths in Ableton, and hoping to work them out with hardware once I get some concepts feeling more second-nature.

Looks like we've all been studying today. First I tried more troubleshooting on the Mono -- Hapax connection (narrowed down, didn't fix). Then I gave up.
Then I watched this video where Caterina Barbieri talks about her compositional technique. I'm been woodshedding Hapax but this makes me want to get out the Vector Sequencer just to mess with separate gates and CVs, which is basically what she's doing.
Then I did some minimal noodling.
Also, a question. I didn't know Dropbox wouldn't play in your browser. What do you people do when you run out of space on Soundcloud? Just delete old stuff?

I thought you could just play the clip directly from TB through a web browser, but I'm probably overdue to give Soundcloud a try anyway. Plus, the fact that you guys not only gave it a listen but also took the time to give me feedback makes me that much more inclined to try it out.
there might be settings i dropbox that make it work that way. the download thing was on both phone and desktop.

That's what I do. First in first out style - as I add more older stuff gets cycled out. I have a friend who did the whole "unlimited storage" subscription thing and likes it quite a bit, but it's not for me.
that was interesting. she's obviously really thoughtful about what she does and has good tech skills, but i was not into the musical stuff that much. not bad, just not my thing.
the sequencer she mentions seems pretty interesting due to it having a lot of steps.
tbh, i found your little piece more interesting (probably because of the low-end melodic material juxtaposed against the minimalist ostinato stuff).
i just delete old stuff as sc is pretty much a show and tell or proof of concept venue for me.

I like the features. I’m just not sold on the sound. I can’t tell if it’s the demo sound source and/or post production but I didn’t hear sounds that got me fired up.
In theory, I could build something “similar” in my Zoia rack unit. However, I do like physical controls, and the Zoia only does two-in & two-out audio, so all routing would need to be internal.
The thing I liked about the video demo was the combo of multiple outputs being simultaneously routed to the Jumble Henge (23:16 time stamp). I do have a Henge, so…

i saw that. i guess they make an mcf that’s half (or so) of it, but is only available in a system. they also do the mum m8 (or something) that seems to sound pretty good. not sure of all the ins and outs of the differences.
Thank you! This skill is something I am working on for my new solo project. I really do like her work, as well as Alessandro Cortini’s mid-2010s stuff, where it’s often a single melodic figure and slow modulations. But I find I’m inclined to a bit more melody or harmony. My challenge is to find a middle ground between letting something just run and changing it up too much too fast.
It’s always hard to tell from demos. I have found sometimes things sound way better or different in my hands…and sometimes they really do not…and sometimes, like Rickenbackers and Jazz basses, they only sound good in other people’s hands.
The Super 6 is a good example of it working out well. Many of the demos are all Rolandy and trancey and that is not how I make mine sound at all. Very excited for MPE to come along.
In other happy news, I heard back from Squarp and Norand and it was a MIDI loop. Really loving my Mono. I am going to sell my Typhon. (HMU if interested.).
The Mum8 is LPF only and has a VCA, so it’s effectively an LPG. It’s also designed to be overdriven. This new one allows a few extra tricks since LP/BP/HP outs for both filters are simultaneously accessible and can be rerouted back into the opposite filter.
Since my current system is effectively two voices, I’d like having a single module allowing two filters. It would save space and power requirements over the two filters I currently have. It would also have the ability to create a custom width BP filter using the High and Low in tandem. It probably would make it easier to synchronize modulation CV. The price isn’t awful, so maybe it’s worth a stab. I just don’t need to run out today for it.
got it. features are cool. price seems good. wait for the next sale (assuming that alm allows that).
