American Standard Jaguar Bass

I was just browsing around Sweetwater's bass inventory (something I do more often than I'd like to admit ), and when I filtered the results to show the newest items first I noticed listings for American Standard Jag basses (screen shot posted below)...

I searched around on Talkbass for a little bit (used the search terms "Jaguar," "new," and "American,"), but nothing came up...though (full disclosure), I haven't been on TB for awhile, so I'm not entirely familiar with the new forum layout yet .

I also checked Fender's site, but nothing seemed to be posted there either (the Jaguar subpage on their site doesn't even mention MIA Jags)...

So, has anyone heard about these/have more info? I'm GASing and I haven't even seen one yet...the Jag has always been my favorite Fender design, and having a MIA option is really appealing.

Same! I've always wanted a Jag (played the MIJ at a store once), but was off-put by some of the issues they seemed to have (mainly the buzzing/grounding stuff people always mentioned). Hopefully the MIA will be a little better in this department.

I remember telling the Fender guys at NAMM 2009 that if they did a Jaguar similar to JMJ's NIN bass, it would sell like hotcakes! Well, it took a few years...

Wow, didn't see this coming! Part of me has always wished my MIJ Jag was a PJ. Looking forward to trying one of these out. Now here's my "that guy" moment: for a bass like this, I really wish they'd offer it in the cool 60's pastels, like Surf Green, Sonic Blue, Shell Pink, etc. Then I would be forced to buy one.

I love Jaguars! My favorite Jaguar so far is my VM Jag. I wanted one of the MIJ ones a couple of years ago but I read about the buzzing and decided to pass on the price. The VM turns out to be a great bass, and a worthy Fender in its own right.

But this may finally be the king of the Jaguar line, and it would set the Jaguar as Fender's "standard" PJ configuration. If they fixed the shielding issues than they are golden.

Once again, of course, I lament the lack of matching headstock (which my Squier Jag has) and lack of surf green...I have a VM Jaguar guitar in surf green and it's the perfect color for this body. Overall, though, it looks cool.

I'm happy other people seem as pumped as I am for this!

And I was thinking the same thing with the colors. If they offered it in Sonic (or even Lake Placid) Blue or Surf Green there'd be a 10000000% chance of me purchasing this. As it stands I'd probably buy it in Olympic White (especially if it came with a Tort guard).

Same! I've always wanted something like this to come along. I had been looking at the Warmoth Jazzmaster Bass IV in an attempt to make something Jaguar-esque, but it's so much better to have an American made Fender alternative.
