American Standard Jaguar Bass

If you compare it to the price of an Am. Std. Jazz or P, then add in the fact that it has active/passive EQ and a blocked neck, it's not really that bad. I thought it would have cost more, honestly.

Well I mean it's not a HORRIBLE price, just more than I can spend on it right now. Maybe I phrased that wrong.
I've always wanted a Jaguar though. I love the look of them. Played a Squire model in Guitar Center and loved it. Maybe I'll just get that. lol
I don't need one. But I surely do want one.

I wish Fender would finally sell the A string tuner-guide that is showing up on basses like this one! I get the distinct impression that they would sell a few...
These are all over reverb now too. Very cool. I remember when the MIJ Jags were "reissued" (as I recall they stopped making them for just a little while) they surfaced in the new blue color as well as the standard ones on the web first. The prices were way low. I do wonder if $1499 is going to be the price of entry for this one once it gets a wider rollout...
American Jag, eh? Previously they were all off-shored (except for the really old Jags... which I think were only guitars!)

I'm in the same boat. I tried one out a few weeks ago at my local music store and its the real deal. But I had to get my first Jazz bass first. Damn that's a hot looking bass!
I wonder if Fender will add a Jaguar body style to their American Design experience, since they'll be producing them in the US. Shouldn't be that hard to add it to the lineup, right? Now that is something that would REALLY excite me.

too bad it doesn't have a bound neck… it's the one mod you can't do after the fact.

Damn I am suprsied by some of the cry babies, this is the coolest thing fender has done in a long time. The only PJ american standard made since those hot rod series like 15 years ago now. You could only get a american standard as a P or a J a few weeks ago and now you can get one as a PJ to, this is a big step forward. Plus a blocked neck on a american standard? to cool.
$1500 is a good price when a J is $1350. The extra $150 for the active option is worth it alone but come on the $150 more is justifiable for the blocks alone. If you ordered a Warmoth neck with dots or with blocks that would be a increase around that same price.
The white ones are fantastic looking.
The only question is I wonder if they will ever make a maple necked one.

Damn. Well done fender. If people are curious about its sound in a mix they should check out JMJ playing with NIN, especially the track "28 Ghosts" live. It sounds beautiful and huge. Although his is custom shop...it's p/j...rosewood fretboard. He did state that he removed the active pre-amp in favor for the passive tone.

I'm just surprised they would choose this format for a PJ release in the AmStd price range. I know there are many that have long been thirsty for a passive PJ in a traditional format, never mind an active Jag shape.
