In the center is my AV RI '62 Jazz LPB, and my AV RI '62 Precision in 3t (all the way on the right is my CS '64 Jazz 3t).

The CS is supposed to have the same pups as the RI '62, but they sound much different. I think the stacker has different wiring and capacitors; although, I haven't looked. That could acount for part of it. My RI's have great necks and feel great to play. I bought the LPB Jazz on ebay (of all places), but I really lucked out. It is mint! I have the chrome covers for all of them and all my basses have TI Jazz flats on them. I just got the Custom Shop Jazz last week (it's phenominal!), and I think the Lyte Deluxe will have to go to make some room.

Yeah, the stack-knobs are generally considered "darker" sounding. The caps are different, plus, you are going through 2 tone pots when both pups are on.

Are the holes for the bridge and pickup covers pre drilled? Or do you need to tap them?

Just wondering because I know they don't come installed on the vintage reissue basses.

Thanks!

No, they're not. You have to do it yourself. The pickup cover position has guide holes pre-drilled in the pickgaurd, however...

Love my '75 reissue! She's loaded with ProSteels and sounds snarly as hell! I just wish mine had come with a slightly darker fretboard and lighter blocks. The blocks on mine are a weird pearlescent grey.

Does anyone with a jazz bass not want their pickup and bridge covers, and would like to donate them to a kid who joining a funk band and doesn't have a job? PM me if you do.
Nice basses! I'm super jealous of every one of these. I love the looks of the AV series, especially the sunburst '57 P. I do love blocked necks, though.
