I wasn't critizing the design, just saying that there are sometimes better ways to do things. Of couse that makes the product cost more so there are always tradeoffs.

Loose nuts can lead to issues as was said, both broken solder joints and in some cases hum due to a bad ground connection. It is worth checking the amp's nuts from time to time. You don't need a wrench, just your fingers.

My old-school bias would call for an open frame jack, mounted on the panel, wired to the circuit board - more expensive, of course.

I feel that this thread should be restricted to posts with photos of amplifier guts, per it's title. If one has a technical problem with an amplifier it's best to open a new thread to discuss the remedies needed.

Looks like poor assembly left a cap unsoldered and loose at one end.

Considering it has been working for a fair time, see all the signatures of work done in it, more likely the leg fatigued from vibration in shipping, diesel trucks are killer. Probably should have been seated closer to the board so it couldn't move though. Bunch of this looks like tacked in stuff prototyping, which it basically is. Compare to a current production model:

Its an engraved plastic panel, and the holes don't line up exactly. From Matamp's MO, its probably a metric to imperial conversion error.

I don't think there is a real correlation between a more boutique builder and mass production. No real excuse for sloppy mass production, but a small volume builder should show more pride in the product.

Custom build is no excuse, if they can't provide a quality unit, don't accept the order.

Sorry, I didn't know matamp is rather a boutique builder.
I know how a boutique amp should look like inside. Those amps sometimes show craftmanship at it's best, like looking at a perfect painting of a picture
