Amps come in several different shapes ans sizes!
To amplify your bass you'll need a pre-amp, a power amp and speakers.
An amp head is normally a pre-amp and a power amp all rolled into the one unit for simplicity and portability.
This can then drive the speaker cabients of your choice!
Combo amps are basically the combination of an amp head and a speaker cabinet all in the one unit!
