Ampeg ba115 vs Fender Rumble 100

I'd chose the Ampeg, unheard and unseen.
The Rumble 100 simply sux as a bass cabinet.
It has nothing below 100 Hz, and is easily drowned out.
My band uses one for e-drums.

Ampeg by a loooong shot. The fender is out there to lure kids into buying it with its low price and 100 watts. Mine, which I got 4 years ago, was a pile of ****. The ampeg absolutely kills the rumble, if I could go back and buy my first big combo I would have bought the ampeg.
Better yet, try and get a head/cab set up. Patrol CL and you should find something.

although i havent played through that ampeg i did have a rumble 100...it was a terrible combo. i was never happy with the tone i got from it and it didnt cut it with my 3 piece band. so though ive never played it i recommend the ampeg based solely on my dislike of the rumble 100.
I know a lot of people who have used the BA-115 for all sorts of playing and have generally liked the amps.

The BA115 is the house amp at our church. It works well. Hissy, but otherwise, that's my only complaint. I thought about buying one, but found a head cab combo for $120 more. How much are you looking at for the BA115? You may be able to get a head/cab for the same money.
Probably the BA115. You've already been warned about the hiss and on the one I had, at about 11:00 on the volume knob, the volume hit its max and couldn't get any louder. Aside from these items, it's actually a pretty decent sounding amp. If you're playing with a somewhat loud band, both the Ampeg and the Fender will likely struggle.
At 11? Huh. I usually play at high noon and have driven it past 1 and it's gotten louder.
But, between the 2, I think the Ampeg is the best bet, at least according to the other Fender owners.
Just to be contrary... I set my USA made BA115 treble knob at 10 and have no hiss whatsoever. The piezo is hooked up and working too. I absolutely love the tone of mine, best sounding amp I've played through. Be warned, I play with two amplified acoustic guitars and no percussion. Even then I'm pretty much maxed out at some bigger bar gigs. Outdoor and large venue gigs are fine using the DI to the PA and the BA115 as a stage monitor.
I've played thru the BA-115 and had it cranked all the way up, it sounded great, but in a fairly loud band situation I found that I was getting drowned out. As far as the Fender goes, I'm not a fan of the bass amps at all, though I've got a '95' Blues DeVille 4x10 that I use for quiet rehearsals and it sounds pretty decent, but would never use it in a gigging situation.

I briefly tried a rumble at a GC and it had this really cool flashing lighting in the speaker port. Chicks dig flashing lights, so if you want to impress the gals, get the rumble.
I mean, you really want to be a rock star don't you?
OTOH if you want tone and reliability, get the Ampeg.

That's the ONLY thing I like about the Fender.
I wanna find a way to wire those lights up to my rig....
Check the weight difference between the Fender and Ampeg. I don't know about these 2 models, but I did a side by side comparison of the smaller versions of these amps with 12 inch speakers (I believe that is the BA12 and Rumble 60). The Ampeg felt a lot lighter.
My Rumble 15 is particle board. I'm guessing the Rumble 100 is too. I suspect the Ampeg is plywood.

Ampeg all the way. As mentioned, be careful for the hiss it can be quite annoying when noone else is playing. And depending on the settings, it will be maxed between 11 and 2 o clock, IME.
mrkreuzschlitz: I ended up adding blue car neons to my SWR Big ben. Looks awesome! All I needed was a splitter from autozone and an adapter from best buy. The total cost of it was under $100, and they have adjustable sensitivity to sound or you can set them to be always on.

I had the Fender 100 for a while. It was nice only that it had a DI out to the PA. When I first got it (first amp and bass) I was excited. But as I learned what I wanted in a tone...it quickly got pushed to the wayside and now I rock a SVT-4 pro and 810 or 210 for smaller practices. If I had gotten the Ampeg 115 (go for the 115T...has a tube pre) I'd probably still have it for practices and whatnot.
