Ampeg BA115 Won't Turn On

Today, I plugged in and and attempted to turn on my Ampeg BA-115. I tried switching outlets, jiggling the cord, banging it, etc. Nothing works. When I flip the switch, absolutely nothing happens.

I last played it about 2 weeks ago, somewhere else, and it was transported face-down in the trunk (which hasn't done anything in the past.) It was working great when I last used it.

I also bought it very recently, used from a local store. It's in awesome condition.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue/solution?

Ya, check the fuse.

Jimmy might remember, there was a guy who did a DIY fix up job on one. I can't recall exactly but something wasn't mounted very well.

Okay...I'm kind of new to the instrument. How would I check the fuse?

Good question. I didn't see a fuse in pics. Could it be on the panel where the cable's attached?

Usually it's right by where the power goes into the case, either fixed lead or plugin. Saves on wiring. It might not be immediately obvious as there are different styles and sometimes they don't have any label on the outside. As far as I can tell from the .PDF of the BA115 manual, there appears to be no fuse at all. I don't remember there being one either, at least not where I could see it. I'd check the amp itself, but it's kind of in storage at the moment.

The fuse is inside the amp chassis.
I changed that on my BA115 to an outside mount fuse.

Just take out the screws that hold the amp part onto the cabinet and look inside. You'll find the fuse holder in there.

The fuse is inside the amp chassis.

Well, that explains it. Why would they do that?

Saves about 32¢.

There's also the theory that "amps don't blow fuses for no reason" and therefore should be checked out by "authorized personnel" to make sure it's OK.

Buy my guess is that saving the 32¢ is the real reason.

It's a little tricky to line the screws back up to re-install.
But, hey, we're bass players: do this stuff all th' time.......

It makes it a little harder to make a "temporary" aluminum foil fuse bypass?

With that line of amps, of course there's an effort to keep costs down, otherwise it wouldn't be the price it is.

IIRC the power transformer broke loose and broke some wires.
