Don't know if you've tried one but that lack of mids is fixed in the LOUD SVT 410hlf, along with the extreme boominess. Still has some boom, but it's more controllable IMHO.

My current SVT410HLF is a Loud. Yessir, Jimmy, I concur, but IMO there's still a little "hollow" spot in between where the LF drivers leave off and that horn picks up. Easily managed. Mainly I'm just giving lip service to what I fancy people's expectations to be given the current hi-fi trend in cabs: smooth from bottom to top.
Used to own two SVT410HLF's made during SLM days. All I remember from then is that I was real into purely bassy tone so I probably didn't notice or care about the mids. My time with the PR410HLF was in between the SLM and Loud SVT410HLF's, it was an older cabinet, but it struck me as having a smoother, more present mid band. I'd kinda like to have one now, but they're goofy-looking to me.
I have a SVT410HLF since about one year (made by Loud). Is there anything "wrong" with the frequency response that can not be equalized by a SVT7Pro?

I don't use them very often, but I managed to get a good sound and fix the boominess of one using an SVT before. Fortunately, the bass knobs on Ampegs are centered at a good frequency to fix boominess. Of course, it's more of a personal decision whether one considers it fixed or not, but I thought it worked out well.
You could check Craigslist for an older USA made 410HLF. I have a full SVT SLM American rig but since the move I would only go Heritage. I really wish I had bought a Heritage SVT when they had Winged C tubes in them because my Winged C's in my classic are about to go.

Good question...my theory is they don't because they want to avoid having way too many cabs in the product line. They already have a buttload. The 212av is a good answer for someone looking for a smaller 4 ohm cab that'll work well with an SVT. Won't be quite as loud as a 410 but will get quite loud indeed and is tuned more in line with the 810e.
$700 for the 212 seems like to much to me when the 410hlf and he go for just a little more. Then i'd have to but the matching black grill on top of that. But if they made a 410E around that price point i'd be all over it.
You can get the 212AV for cheaper. Musiciansfriend has an "open box" for $550 right now. But yeah, I agree with what you're saying. It's an expensive little cab.
the way is see it is I can get another used 810 the same or less than that. then I can leave one at each jam spot and destroy at shows
