Well the 7027 is only being produced by JJ and Sovtek these days, and from what I understand, it was out of production for quite a while. And the 6K11 is apparently not being made anymore, so I'd forget about an exact duplicate of the old circuit. I think it's silly to fret over it being exact, anyway. If it is, great. If not, I think it's still worth looking into.

BTW, what's wrong with the SVP-CL preamp anyway?

Not sure but when they released the later 6L6 model, 7027A's were not readily available; now they are

I played both style amps and thought the originals were much better sounding; they weighed a ton and were built extremely well.

I seem to remember something about the V4BH and the B15R being the same circuit... can anyone confirm?

The way Ampegs used the 7027A made them interchangeable with a good 6L6GC, like a 7581. Likewise with the newer tubes, 'cept they aren't as robust as the old stuff. Personally, I hope they build it with four KT88s - just for the extra headroom. That might put it on par with the old amps.

I've ben saying for years that a good 100w all tube bass head is plenty for alot of gigs. Did everybody just wake up?

Six EL34 running 120-130w or so worked well for me in the Sound City 120 I had. It just had the right amount of power/headroom through a good 410, 8x8, or 610 ME. ;)

Four KT88 would be sweet. Six 6L6/EL34 wouldn't be bad either. I'm just hoping we escape the output section (and perhaps iron) of the V4BH.

6K11 is just a triple triode, two High Mu triodes (similar to the 12AX7) and one Medium Mu triode (similar to 1/2 of a 12AU7). Don't know if there is really any sonic difference having the three triodes sharing the same bottle but the current capabilities in the circuit of the Medium Mu triode could be important. :) Just saying it won't be that hard to work around and do "properly". :D

Exactly, Jon. The SVT worked around 12dw7's going away with 12ax7's and 12au7's and made an amp that sounds just as good as the old ones. And good thing too, since new 12dw7's suck out loud.

Pignose B100VH, 100 all tube watts.

Got mine as a combo for $170, pulled the head out, had my friend build a head cab, run it thru a custom built cab with 1 - 15" Kappa pro 15 LF, with a '68 P Bass,

, and I am in tube amp heaven !
