Haha I got zapped in a pile of old CED's what an awful movie, the only funny part is where Scatman Coruthers throws out Scott Baio and Willie Aimes (Could be wrong there) grow op and starts trippin out hard. I didn't think other people have actually seen it...
Oh yeah... that thing with Ampeg sucks, but such is life, I don't know the guy for all I know it was a personal thing, maybe the guy just got sick of coming in to that ship hole every day...
Any place where you can come to work every day and hang with Hodgy has to be a fun place to work overall

Fuzz, if that's the case, it would make sense. I thought that was not a good move to not bring one out, especially now. But if true, it also means that they'll be getting one into production pretty soon...which = good news!
But unrelated to your post, I am glad to see an angry Talkbass mob forming. As usual, there's no shortage of negative Nellies who, without any knowledge or regard for the facts, are willing to predict the end of the world. Good going, Talkbass...you never let me down!

I don't really see any serious negativity here just yet (particularly in TB terms).
Pyotr was a good dude, who knew(knows) high quality amps, and possibly did some good things while at Ampeg/Loud.

Hey, if Ampeg screws up with whoever is in charge, I'll say it. I'm just not willing to say it 2 seconds after Pyotr leaves like many on here.
They've really been delivering the goods over the last couple of years. The pf line and 7 Pro are gold. Let's hope it continues.
Let's hope that Ampeg continues its long tradition of quality and art in their products. Posing in front of a vintage SVT is enough to put a smile on anyones face.
It's so great to see a community so interetsed in a company's future as well as defending the last man in charge. He certainly held the reigns during a strong comeback period. Especially when they were coming back from very bad times and creating good, new, original products and not just rehashing the old.
It is doubtful that we will ever know the true story as to why the corporation felt that new blood would make for better business. Considering what they accomplished, where they have been in a dark past, and, where they currently are, one could assume that corporate is more aware of what the people want as well as what is sellable. Of course making a reasonable profit is also necessary.
It really is pure speculation without knowing the P&L statement, where Ampeg sits against there competition, past, present, and future sales, etc.
I see no reason to think that this will lead to any sort of company demise.
Perhaps neither party could come to agreement on a new employment contract or salary agreement. Perhaps the man was looking for new challenges. So far we only know that management has changed as there has yet to be a known quatable source with insider information.
And in case anyone should think that I am not a fan of their gear, there are 5 Ampeg amps at my house right now (ranging from a tiny tube Jet to a 1500 watt power amp) and one at rehearsal. I did sell 3 others years back as they wee not getting used but am certain there are more in my future and hopeful they will continue with solid design and fair pricing.

I still watch the "old folk's channels" (yes, I'm old) and enjoy seeing some of those beauties when they were "young"
While it would obviously be wrong to provide details about someone's departure from a company (which I assume all of you can understand...), we can say that we will miss Pyotr. We are immensely grateful for his contribution to Ampeg. From the Heritage B-15 to the recent line of guitar amps, Pyotr helped make some great gear.
That being said, there is a great team involved in making the newer products that you guys like. One of the most important people is product manager, Zane Williams, who is behind the entire Portaflex Series, the PRO NEO Series and much more.
Others like engineer Rob Riggs have been are also critical to the "new" Ampeg.
So, while we will certainly miss Pyotr and his contribution was invaluable, we want you all to rest assured that we haven't slipped into some regressive state. It was hard work winning a lot of you back and we certainly AREN'T giving up that easily to the bean counters...
