I went with the 500 for the extra headroom. You may not ever need it, but it's there when you do!

I have noticed that it does seem to act a little different than my last one. I can get the gain up much higher and master volume and not need to use the compressor. My last one, I could get the gain to 1:30, master at 1, but the compressor had to be at around 10 or it would fart out. Eq flat. Same cab and bass are used. Hmmm.
Hey Fellow TALK BASSers!
Need some help.......I own the Ampeg PF500, and use the PF115 HE & PF210. Lately I've been using the 2x10 cab. We have PA support....so I really just need to hear myself on stage. Had gigs this weekend......no problem Friday in a big venue........but Saturday in a smaller club........I hated my tone.........I run the compressor around 8-9 o'clock. The cab sounded like a speaker was blown........the limiter was clipping quite a bit......I haven't had a change to test the cab out since our last gig. Would the limiter clipping sound like a speaker blown? IMHO..it sound not. I'm wondering if I need to invest in a tilt bar for both cabs. Any suggestions would help......my gain was about 12 oclcock and the master the same.........that's the volume I've used the last few months since owning the Ampegs.
Help!
First thought is check your cables - speaker and instrument
Second is check your cab
Third - is it an active bass? Check battery
Boy, hard to tell without being there. One thing I'd recommend is if you had them both on the floor, I'd stack them with the 210 on top. But I'm afraid that the only way you'll find out what's wrong is to try your stuff out again.
So you can actually hear your rig onstage rather than have the highs and mids blow past your ears.Whats the reason for that?

I'd probably put the 210 on top because the 115 is a little heavier in the lows, but yep.Having a 115 on top of a 210 would do that?
One could remove said horn, yes? Then it would fit, no?
