I know nothing of bass..but want to buy this amp...

do you think it would be great to run a musical trade show?

keep in mind I know nothing of bass signal..so this would be my 1st bass amp...

I would recommend the PF500 to anyone who needs a low cost solid state amp. It has some nice features, and sounds great. I would, (did), pass on the matching cabs, though.

That cab is beautiful...but I have my own...

I need a real low cost amp ..for testing and demoing.. not playing

but there looks to be a real big difference in both amps...

There is...the PF500 has a more versatile EQ and a more fully featured DI, but for your purposes, the PF350 would be fine regardless of the impedance you choose. I have a PF350 and it's great for my needs, and though I'd like a PF500, I really don't feel much of a need to upgrade. And if all you're doing is demonstrating your Klops drums, I don't see how you'd need any more than that.

+1 While I can think up reasons to justify someone getting a PF-500 (or even a 7Pro) the truth is that for your application and many others, the PF-350 or Micro-VR would do just fine.

I have been using my PF500/115HE rig quite a bit lately and am enjoying it. The bigger wattage and 1x15 gives me just a bit more usable volume than my long time go-to gig rig .. Mesa Walkabout 12. This is actually causing me to change out my Mesa drivers to 8ohms so I can go back to a 4 ohm total load with 2 cabs.

I also like the fliptop design with casters as it makes it a pretty easy load in/out. I say pretty easy, because you can stash the power and speaker cable inside the amp and do the fliptop thing with the head. I would like to see a little better way to move the cab and may decide to stick one of those Mesa gig-luggage things onto the 115HE cab.

But .. (there is always a but .. right ?) I am starting to wonder about how sensible it is to store the cables and casters in the nylon zipper bag that comes with the amp. Ampeg does provide a velcro strap at the bottom of the cab to keep this little package in place, but it seems to me that if that sucker got loose inside there, it could do some serious damage ... like poke a hole through a speaker cone, or even knock the crossover board lose (the crossover board is just sitting pretty much in the open inside the cab.)

I know there is a simple answer to this .. just carry the cables and casters in a separate gig bag, but my working rig goal is to make it smaller and lighter in any way possible.

So, in an idle moment, I was just wondering if anyone else had given this any thought ?

You'd have to be shaking the cab around pretty violently to get loose casters to break something in there, imo. Maybe if you dumped it on its side or something.

Ordered a pf115he, so Ill post pictures of the full rig (210 and 115) in a week or so, hopefully :hyper: Really looking forward to the extra headroom. I was thinking about going with the hlf, but it doesn't have a fliptop, that really turned me off.

I'm not so sure about that. Its nothing for a cab to slide around a bit in an equipment van situation. Stuff gets tossed around a bit all the time IME. OTOH, I get what your saying too. It is probably not a huge issue .. my guitar player and I were just pondering this last night as we were loading out.

I know this is pretty shallow, but aside from the great sound I think I get from my PF500 and two PF115HEs, I get a lot of comments about how good the cabs look. In my neck of the woods these seem to be the only vintage looking bass cabs available.
BTW: at a recent club gig with my rockabilly band I got asked by the sound man to turn down. He had no bass in FOH and I was still too loud! Heh heh..... :hyper:
