Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

I still kind of want the B200-R. How does it compare to it's big sister?
But seriously - one is a 50-watt bedroom amp, the other a 200-watt performance amp. EQ sections differ greatly, the big one has a tube pre ... apples/oranges.
Maybe it would be a more reasonable comparison if I had the 115 200-watt.
One thing I can say for sure: anything is more rugged overall than the injury-plagued B200-R.

Stick one on the headstock.
At this point, might as well just start putting cheap piezos and tuning apparatus INTO the bass. Sure the bass wouldn't tune itself, but then you wouldn't even have to clip anything onto it.

I think I'll pull out my makita and work on my American deluxe Jazz for prototyping ;)

Or maybe I'll get a glarry for that.

Edit: I keep editing this because I don't want to double-post, but I'm actually semi-seriously considering this after I finish my move and fix my bike up.

After a few days with my RB-110 I remain impressed and very pleased. I'm also looking forward to the day when the RB-112 hits the floor, and it would not surprise me if I spring for another -- at this price point it's really not the hardest thing to imagine.

Here's my big takeaway for all the Ampeg fanboys and fangirls:

This first truly new release since Yamaha acquired ownership of Ampeg should reassure anybody who was concerned about how the new parent company would honor, continue, and ADVANCE the Ampeg legacy. Stepping into modern-day bass combo technology with a product line so firmly rooted in iconic retro Ampeg styling and sound is a strong indicator that Yamaha acknowledges the past accomplishments that have made Ampeg a long-time leader in bass amplification, and seeks to continue that tradition with its new products. More important: they have the technical skill needed to achieve this goal, and have successfully applied that skill in the Rocket Bass 110, and I assume in the rest of the Rocket Bass combos as well. It is a sound and savvy move, and I believe that good things are ahead.

I just got the GT 1000 so I'm set on desktop or floor tuner :D it'll be the perfect companion to the RB12

I just love the GT1-B so much that I just recently (about 5 weeks ago) bought the GT100 for my guitar rig.

Playing that through the Katana is just magical (I run right into the PA jack to by-pass the amp's pre-amp section)!

If it weren't for playing some smaller gigs, I wouldn't even bother with an amp and just run straight into the board, but for my money, Ampeg is "back" with a vengeance and I can't wait to see what goodies Ampeg/Yamaha will come up with next.

My G.A.S. was in remission, but I think I'm officially relapsed for a little while, anyway.

Indeed!! What IS in that Plomeek orange chicken???

Yeah, looks like I’ll just be buying from them. I just wanted to try out the difference between the 12” and the 15” speakers.

That's the one I would get.

I'm going over to Chicago Music Exchange on Saturday to check out basses, I'm really hoping they have a 112 and 115 early that I can try out. Normally would gravitate towards the 112, but I have a GK 112 and would like something way different from it, so I'm hoping the 115 isn't too boomy.

Boomy I wouldn’t worry about. The double difference in horsepower is the more likely reason for buying the 15. If you intend to use this purchase for rock gigs you probably want the 15 or 210.
