Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

I’d like to see a comparison of the old B-100R and the new RB-115. Since they’re both 100W, is there any difference in how they hold up in a band setting? Is the RB-115 more efficient?.
A reasonable question. Certainly for power demands, the RB's more efficient by virtue of the switchmode power supply. I can't tell you if they matched the B100R to the nut, but I can tell you that 100w is 100w is 100w. And the B100R was absolutely a target for tonal excellence for the RB series.

Thanks, Jimmy. I understand that watts are watts; I should have said “speaker/cab efficiency”. So is the new amp louder by virtue of the new speaker?

The only way to determine that is by an actual AB of both amps for loudness, which I doubt many people have got to do yet since I don't think they've shipped yet. So many other factors beyond the design of the speaker go into it, though. Cab size and porting also enter into it.

It's looking like it's only 200 if it's hooked up to an external cabinet, and only 100 if it's just the internal speaker. I think. 200W would definitely be nice, though.
Looks like you’re right, here’s the owner’s manual from the website:

I agree on all points, however in their hype video on the YT they do specifically state that other than the look - they are a completely different animal than the original rocket bass amps.

....now for the sad face - my B100R has been collecting dust for quite some time as I can find no one to work on it in my area. It's my favorite amp of all time despite it being a tank to get around.
@Jay Corwin - call Jay or Dwayne Hall at Sportsmen's Tavern/The Cave. Tell them I suggested it if you don't know them. They have Dwayne's old B100R as a house amp and I know they have had to have some work done on it kind of recently. You can find Jay on Facebook too. Good people and they'll steer you right.

I also find the different percentage of THD+N between the 4ohm & 8ohm ratings interesting. Just the way the numbers work on this, I would expect both of them to be measured at either 3% or 10%, not at different ratings.
