Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

Ampeg did a poll on Facebook about tweeters in combos, and I swear, maybe one person in 50 wanted them. And Justin Meldal-Johnson was extremely vehement in his hatred of them :D Me, I can tolerate them as long as they have an on-off switch, but you wouldn't believe how many people wanted nothing to do with them.
Once I switched to tweeterless cabs my amp tones came to life, there's really something about an cabinet, enclosure, driver all designed to sound great without a tweeter. When I dial in home recording tones now I have to engage some form of LPF, either through my Broughton, Tech21 Q\Strip, or through my Boss GT-1000 either via EQ or, more preferably, a great IR loaded.

In all sincerity, I can’t see why one would go for the 108 when the 110 offers such substantial upgrade in features - specifically control over the SGT and the XLR direct output. Well worth the less-than $100 price difference.
I don't need either from a practice amp. I already have plenty of OD and DI options, and I can definitely find other things to do with $100.

I recently bought the RB-110 for my 12 year old kid who took up bass this year, along with a Sterling short-scale Ray. Needless to say both were carefully selected for my enjoyment as well... Didn't expect it but I'm enjoying the heck out of the 110 tone and SGT circuit - so much I'll probably order the 112 too, that one appeals to me the most (still regret selling my original US SWR WM12 combo), I have a bigger setup (TT800/215 subway) but can see myself using an RB-112 sans pedals more often now.

Just ordered the RB210. From what I've heard on line it sounds like a great combo. Nice and full with simple features. Bought it for a practice amp, something simple for rehearsals and a quick grab and go deal. I have other cabs, heads and pedals but sometimes simplicity is welcomed. I have a couple of venues in mind to give it a try in that environment as well. Wonder if Ampeg will eventually manufacture the extension cabs to match the RB line. Ampeg nailed this one in the esthetics department.

I bought an RB-110 which I like but it is not loud enough. I play it at half volume in my little home practice room. So, I am going to exchange it for either an RB-115 or RB-210. Did you consider the RB-115? If so, would you mind saying what led to your choice? Listening to the audio samples on Ampeg's site, I though the RB-115 sounded better, but that might just be my ears.

I guess my decision, in part, is based on past experiences with the two speaker set ups. Both samples on the site were pretty good as far as samples go. The 10's sounded a tad more defined and that has been my experience in the past. The 15's have a wonderful nice full warm sound to them as well that I like. The demo played through the 15 was fantastic! I do like both and I guess it boiled down to what was my mood and what sounded the best to me that day. I am quite sure I will have days that I wished I ordered the 15 and days I'm super glad I bought the 10's. Flavor of the day. LOL... The sound you keep chasing and part of the fun in the whole bass experience. Keeping the GAS alive and well.

The 12 is a significant upgrade since all 100 watts power the internal speaker. Why did you buy the RB-110? It's a bedroom/practice amp.

Not loud enough for what? Practice, rehearsal, performance?
Can you be more specific, please?

I totally agree with you that the RB-115 sounded better.
