Ampeg SGT-DI

I have one on the way from Sweetwater. If I can add it to my Mesa Prodigy in the FX return loop, awesome, if not, I still have what looks to be a killer DI.
Man, the Prodigy is all tube…I may be an Ampeg endorser, but I think even Dino the Ampeg Guy would try to talk you out of that ;). Just run it in line between bass and input. Then you get the best of both worlds.

I have the SCR-DI and love it. But I'm so gonna get a SGT-DI. The cab and voice selection , plus the sweepable mid, are three ticks over and above the SCR. The three-position ultra-low is also interesting, as in the SCR (and in my PF-500 head) it's just on/off. Being able to upload extra content is also awesome.

Be interesting to see a good comparison of the Grit with the Scrambler in terms of dirty tone.

This thing is loaded with features. I sure as hell didn't expect Ampeg to release something like this.
No, but it is kinda what I'd expect from Yamaha.

I'll preface this by saying I'm in a different market/genre than them, and no offense to those that like it, but I've had to stop watching the Bass Channel demos. As usual, they've managed to get show off all the tones that I don't care for. It's obviously a personal taste thing, but I'm glad I watched the other demos first... the BC maybe would have been enough to make me cancel my order. The other demos ring my bell much more.

5sg.

It seems to do decent at b15 sounds but so far the demos don't sound good on the svt settings it sounds way too harsh and buzzy
I think that's mostly just them using the low and high switches. The manual shows that they changed them up quite a bit. Which I think is dumb, but maybe that's just how they heard what they wanted them to do when they were setting the eqs on them.

Expect to see some more Ampeg/Line 6 mashups along the way.

It looks very well thought out. Introducing IRs is quite thee big step and I like the dual voicing as well.
I use the SCR-DI very often and I'm a sucker for preamps, so I'm likely to buy one of these eventually.
I really enjoy the tone of the Scrambler though, it works really well.

Something that almost happened with the SCR-DI but didn't, that we have on this unit :
There's an actual parallel effect loop between the thru and mono aux in. It only outputs on the line out though.

Dino lost some weight. Lots. Good for him

I am using the old classic pedal. BTW They said that the SGT is an analog circuit. The NUX which loads IR is also analog front end and the IR is added towards the end, so it looks like this is analog. I am interested for sure. Yamaha knows digital and audio very well.

Is it just me, or does the Jad Freer Capo do what this is going for (and more) much better already?

The Ampeg does have a few important things that the Capo is missing, especially the cab simulation. Also the Capo is 100$ more expensive I think. I don’t know if the Capo is better or better sounding? Would be nice to see a comparison video.
