I've been lurking on this thread since it started since I'm a long time SCR-DI owner. I love the clean sound it gives. Since I'm an Ampeg fan, I was gonna pull the trigger on this newer box but I decided on a Stomp, instead.

I was looking at the Hagerman, but its current design, with the valve so exposed, put me off because it would sit on the pedal board on the floor and then when I have to transport it... it's a bit of a delicate matter.I run a Hagerman Valve into the Sgt-di and love the combo.
I'll have to decide between the Edison and one of the Sushi models... although it seems there's very little stock and only one Edison model to choose from, thanks.I use an Edison on my SGT-DI rig. There are a few in the TB classifieds but they are sold new here:

The Hagerman sounds better on the SCR-DI to my ears but both pedals deliver the tubey goodness.

I think it depends. The SGT circuit does behave like an amp in that if you hit it hard you get more gain. Unfortunately I get too much gain for my tastes when trying that even with the gain knob minimized. Could be just what I want to hear. That's terrible to hear. I wanted to pick one up for a different flavor to my Darkglass Infinity along with the rest of my board.
The current design perplexes me that they removed the small bar/cage. I use mine at home but would be wary on a gigging board.I was looking at the Hagerman, but its current design, with the valve so exposed, put me off because it would sit on the pedal board on the floor and then when I have to transport it... it's a bit of a delicate matter.
Fair enough, as I use mine (I have two) on pedal boards that are stationary/do not travel.I was looking at the Hagerman, but its current design, with the valve so exposed, put me off because it would sit on the pedal board on the floor and then when I have to transport it... it's a bit of a delicate matter.
I have both and both preamps are very ampeg like. Though the preamp in the SGT has more flexibility with the mid control.sorry if this has been covered -
I love the preamp sound I get from my scr-di. But I hate the scrambler and want to get a good mild overdrive and I’m tired of trying (and spending) od pedals and adding a cam sim pedal.
I want to get the sgt to cover that
My question - for those of you that have used both, can I get the same preamp sound on the sgt I get on my scr?
Thanks for any input
The SCR-DI is used on my home board along with/ a Scrambler pedal [much better in pedal form] & Hagerman value. The SGT-DI is on my live & studio board along w/ a TC Spark, Edison, & Broughton HPF/LPF.sorry if this has been covered -

Tried to connect to software but it couldn’t find my device…. Not sure what’s up with that
Very nice you were able to find a solution, and an Ampeg solution at that.Ugh, I have NOT been able to use my musicman bass at all with this pedal. It lacks clean headroom for that without a pad. But Ampeg makes a solution, and I found one for $75. The Classic Preamp pedal. it has a -15dB pad internally dip switchable. So I enabled that and now I can make the volume change I need and also nudge the EQ in the direction I need for a good sound. The EQ Points are ampeg so its like making the same changes on the SGT-DI using the Classic preamp pedal instead.
I can’t comment as to if the amp shares the same circuitry to the pedal 100% for sure but I can say I have the BA210 with scrambler channel I never use. I’ve read it’s the same circuit as the scr-di so venture to guess the rb210 has the same sgt circuit as the pedal. And I own a Rumble 500. I prefer Ampeg tones live with a band and my 210 weighs 48 lbs, had it for 8 years and it’s never let me down on a gig. The rb210 is already lighter than my amp and has the better circuit. I use the rumble at home and leave the Ampeg in the trailer. Extra info…I actually use the SGT pedal on a board with other pedals and that goes to FOH. I use the ba210 for my stage amp and I can adjust knobs all gig long if I want not effecting FOH tone much at all really.I'm considering an Ampeg RB-210 amp vs a Fender Rumble 800. I have an Ampeg Scrambler pedal, and am wondering how that compares with the SGT circuit (assuming the RB-210 has the same SGT circuit as the SGT-DI, possibly an incorrect assumption). From reading a number of posts here, it seems that the Scrambler circuit in the SCR-DI was weak, but that the SGT circuit in the SGT-DI is good. Does anyone know if there's any commonality between the circuits in these three products (Scrambler, SGT-DI, RB-210)? I'm thinking since I already have the Scrambler, that the Rumble may be the better choice for me, as I already like several of its features (including the 29lb weight!)
