Pity I missed this thread, just got my ampeg last thurs,gigged it Fri and sat then brought it back Monday, heart breaker.Fine during sound check and a few other songs then nothing but cutting for the rest.Turned the limit thing on but thought it sounded awful, pity I didn't try the speakon because on paper its a beast :hmm:

I have both an SVT-7 and a USA SVT-8 Pro that I will put into either 1 or 2 15/6 fearfuls.

After A/B the SVT 7 and 8 I came to realize what a great amp the SVT 7 is for the money. I end up using the SVT 7 more though my fEARful than the SVT-8 or my TC RH750.

My opinion SVT 7 and a 15/6 is really what most folks would need volume-wise unless you need to get stupid loud. Stupid loud I mean as a good thing.

I like the tone I get with the SVT 7 and 15/6 and with 2 15/6 I like it even better but reality for me is one 15/6 with the SVT 7 is plenty.

With the 15/6 fEARful I put gain at 2pm, compressor at 9-10am, bass 10am to noon to 2pm depending on room, mid freq at setting 2 or 3 depending on mood, mid at 2pm, treble at 10am. Master to volume need. With a Jazz bass both pickups on full or neck pickup slightly rolled back and tone knob pulled back a bit I get a sound I really really like.

those are pretty much the exact settings I'm running my SVT 7 at into a Bergantino HD410. Played an outdoor gig today and it sounded pretty damn great. Master up to maybe 10:30 at most- P bass with flats.
I've been thinking about selling the 410 and grabbing either 2 215s or 2 210s, or a 15 6 kind of cab (or two). Trying to ease the schlep with a bad back. I have a rockcart so 2 smaller cabs is actually easier for me to lift and move.
I'm not shooting for a super hifi kind of tone- more warm, thick, punchy. Blues, country, funk, R&R, reggae/dub kind of stuff.
Have you come across any clips of fearful cabs in action? I've seen the two pretty terrible ones on youtube. What cabs were you using prior to Fearful and how would you compare?

+1 I also have a USA-made 8Pro and a 7Pro, and while I do prefer the 8Pro, the 7Pro is also very, very impressive, and a great head for the money. Both of them pair up well with the fEARfuls, IME/IMHO.

FWIW, other heads which I think just kill with the fEARfuls include the Carvin B1500, GK 2001RB, Glockenklang Heart-Rock II, Aguilar DB750, Mesa/Boogie M6/9, Mesa/Boogie Titan V-12, GK MB800. Oh, and tube heads also do quite well through these cabs.

I know they are very different cabs but I'm trying to get a feel for if they are really that mind blowing and easily out perform the standard company brands. I'm so glad that I listened to some of you guys and grabbed my 7pro- for me it's a perfect fit. I really dig my Berg HD410 but it's size is a pain and I'm going to either grab 2 210s or 215s. I just wanna know if the Fearless is THAT much better.

The fEARful cabs are very good, and they are highly viable options which will in some respects outperform a number of cabs on the market. For instance, they go pretty darned low, move a lot of air, and have very articulate mids. That being said, not everyone is going to prefer what the fEARfuls do to what other cabs do (and for the record, I have not heard any of the fEARless cabs yet).

With regard to Bergantino and Ampeg cabs, specifically, both of those are established, highly competent brands, and I really do think that it will come down to personal preferences. For me, personally, Jim Bergantino seems to make the cabs that hit the nail most squarely on the head for what I am after. I would definitely not consider it an "upgrade" to go from Bergantino to a fEARful cab (or vice versa). It's just a different flavor of good.

exactly the honest info I was looking for- thanks a ton Tom! Now I just wish Jim made single 15's!!! When I a/bd the 410 and the 212 I went with the 410- seemed slightly more articulate where the 212 was just a little darker. PLus I think the 4-10 can handle a slightly larger gig. 2 212s is just too much cab for me to haul around but 2 210s is a little more reasonable.
Everyone raves about stacking 2-10s vertically nowadays but I'm not so sure with the offset diagonal speakers in the berg 2-10s you'll get that vertically aligned element.... hmmmm

While that's true about diagonal cabs (it's dispersion of high mids and highs that's affected), I'm willing to overlook more narrow dispersion if the cab delivers the sound I'm looking for. I'm not a huge highs guy anyway.

I have not. But the PF115he's, while they sound great and I use them sometimes, are on the verge of going too low to suit my tastes, so without playing them, I'm going to venture that the PF115hlf and PF410hlf aren't going to be up my alley since they go even lower. But if you like the SVT 410HLF, you'll probably like both of them.

I haven't played the 410hlf. I'm looking for anyone's feedback as to their favorite cabs (other than the 810 which I already have and don't want to gig with anymore) to pair with the 7pro. Two smaller cabs preferred...

slade, I have a pair of the PN1115HLF's and they do go low BUT they also have clarity and are pretty tight. The lows are not muddy at all. The tweeter is not harsh and sounds good but I also dial it back (I'm not a big tweeter fan). I've ran both an SVT-7PRO and SVT-IIPRO for power and no farting or concerns. These cabs would have no problem handling a medium sized club with no PA support. Ampeg did a good job designing these and they're about 45lbs and a easy lift.

FWIW, Jim does now offer the NV115, and it's one helluva cab! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :cool:

I see that!!! I think you know my scenario- using 2 HD112s- not quite enough for my larger and louder gigs. I'm sure you've a/b all these cabs (essentially). How about 2 NV115s stacked? Tonal differences between the HD112 VS the NV115?? And how about Vs the CN212? I don't want to post this question in the CN thread because I know the answer I'll get ;) I originally went with the HD line over the CN based on my ears- the HD sounded thicker and when pushed I felt that the CN got nasally...
