Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

Since getting my 7PRO back in my 4U rack and hauling it around to and from practice I was wondering why I put a light, 2U class D amp in a regular depth 4U enclosure. The 4U case was on special sale when I got it and I figured that perhaps I would be using a power conditioner and a Tech21 VT Bass or something similar in the future.



The compelling event to buy the 7Pro (next off course to sweet tone) was so I wouldn't have to lug around my 22KG/48lbs Trace Elliot head anymore. The 4U/7Pro combo saves me some weight but the dimensions are far bigger than the TE head.



Is there anyone who can recommend a solid, snug fitting double door 2U enclosure for the 7PRO? I've heard stories about SKB shallow cases fitting nicely but perhaps anyone here can back that story?

I have a Carvin 2U case but it's not enclosed in the front or back. It's covered in tolex though and it looks awesome, I posted a pic a few pages back.

I had my pro 3 in my molded skb 4 space. I have a korg rack tuner and a vent. That was pretty heavy. Once I put the 7 in there instead I was totally fine with the weight. It is totally safe in that thing. I don't need shock mounts though, that's just for touring IMO.

For me, it's not the weight either but a full depth 4U is rather bulky if you try to haul it around along with a SVT-410HEN, SVT-210HE, a dual-bass gigbag and a pedalboard in a car like this ;)

It's tough already finding the 2U version in Europe but I'm going to give this one a try. I have a decent pedalboard tuner and enough competent effects to not have GAS for a rackmount preamp or rack tuner anytime soon.

I hooked my new to me Modulus Q5 up to my 7pro rig this weekend. WOW.. That is about all I have to describe it. That amp roared!! Clean, clear, mid rangey, tight, LOUD... I actually had to pad the output and run the amp for active basses. Man, what a great sounding amp with my new bass.

I had a Q5 for 20 years. Great bass and I always had to pad the input on my amps because it is an active bass with a healthy output.

Hoping to get my 7Pro next week. Can't wait. FYI both my Spectors are active with hot output. So I suspect I'll be hitting that -15dB on the input. ;)

I have the 18v HAZ in the NS5 and the 9v HAZ in the NS2. I'll play it by ear.

I don't usually use the preamp tube for distortion. I leave that to pedals. We'll see what kind of head room I have on the input.

I'll also be running each bass through it's own channel of this...

This would be ear bleeding insane. I run the 7PRO with a pair of the PN-115's and it can get stupid loud if I want to. Hope u enjoy them.

The PN (Pro Neo) series are top of the line. I'll never use them to their full potential (except the occasional outdoor gig) but I'm really liking the 810 tone. Don't have to be loud to get it. Plus I have the option to use one if that's all I need... Or more appropriately if that's all they'll let me use. :D

Hmm I didn't like it, never could hear myself in a live band situation also thought it was lacking low end. As strange as it may seem I like the micro vr and 210 av much more not half as loud but (don't ask why) but I can hear myself better on stage off course the audience could hear the pro 7 pn410 combi better but we have pa in this world to overcome this problem

Hmmm... Not sure why it worked this way for you (completely baffled really) but hey, you gotta go with the situation. Glad you got it worked out.
