Regarding the tube, preamp tubes are less of an issue to change than power tubes. You don't have to re-bias the amp for different preamp tubes. Not a big deal. However, preamp tubes last much much longer than power tubes, so you won't need to change it for a few years at least. If you want to change it for a different response that's fine, just swap it for something else. No other steps needed. FWIW, I am still using the stock tube and the amp sounds great.

Don't overthink this. If you like the tone of Ampegs and the power of the 7Pro meets your requirements, then grab one. Their customer support is very good and the problems with reliability seem like a distant memory at this point. I love mine and have no issues recommending them.

^-- I have noticed JimmyM with many many many informative words throughout my research. Honestly, I have come to feel comfortable with selections because of his input and have skimmed through threads to see if he posted in it.. lol

Good to know about the amount of well informed players standing behind this product. :hyper::bassist:

Some folks take JimmyM's comments with a grain of salt (I don't) because he is an endorser. I'm not an endorser and I don't doubt that some folks, especially when the 7Pro was first released, have had negative experiences with the amp. I can only relate my experience which has been nothing but positive.

If I had one complaint about the 7Pro, it would be that the DI seems to run really hot to the board. There is a cut switch, but it cuts by 40 DBs!!!!! I think 15 or even 20 would have been more than enough, and 40 is just too much. I wind up running the gain at the board either all the way down or all the way up (no gain reductions on our band's board). I wish the gain reduction of the DI was little less extreme. This is a very minor complaint though and I still recommend it without hesitation.

I've had a 7 Pro since November and it's been a champ so far. I don't use it on every gig but I've used it on quite a few, and no problems at all. I don't use the DI, though Double Agent is kind of right about the DI, but a lot of that depends on your preamp settings, too. Did have some problems at one time, but I think they've been ironed out as complaints have gone way down.

Have been using a SVT-7pro for awhile now and love it. I have had nothing but compliments when playing too. Played a gig yesterday (7 June) and sound tech was amazed at the tone I had pumping out of it. even through the supplied backline cab.

I play sadowsky basses through it and play hard rock/alternative (pick user). sounds fantastic. never had any problems with it like others bash on. our rehearsals are usually 6 hours long and it runs the whole time without missing a beat.

I run a Ampeg PN410and would love to hear it through a 610 or 810.

Anyone who bashes other peoples choice of gear are obviously insecure about their own. whether you spend 10K or $100 on your gear, respect others.

Ok tube changed and nothing still . This is a version F . Now to find my paper work ughh..
