Do you think the clipping is noticeable when that happens? Sometimes I do and most of the time I don't.

Finally got around to playing with the input pad switch.

If I’m really laying into the active bass (the Lull Jazz), I can hear it distorting just a bit. Same with the level of the wireless (which is set pretty hot for noise floor purposes. But that’s at any level on the amp’s gain and its brutally loud at 10:00 on the control. With the pad in, its way loud at 12 or 1:00 on the gain knobs.

With the Lull passive P bass, I can run the pad on zero plugged straight into the amp. But through the wireless and gained up to match the output of the Jazz, I have to use the pad.

No matter with any of that, the SVT-7Pro has become a serious workhorse with the 610HLF cab.

I have tested one and was simply blown away by the thickness of the sound. It’s like a ‘really good version’ of my VT Bass di plugged into another class D amp. The svt7 sounds ‘’fatter’.
About to pick up a brand new one, but I’m a bit scared it will be faulty after hearing all these stories. Are recently delivered ones ok now?

I have an OLD SVT3 Non pro.. I need to RE CAP the PS board.. That amp sounds incredible.. Very much like my SVT2 non pro..
I just have NOT been able to find the CAPS..
I was going to get an SVT7 but I see too many issues. This 3 non pro sounds so good I think i will stay with it.. Nothing sounds like an ampeg for that certain tone.

They should be fine now, my dealer told me the new motherboard solved most of the issues. Honestly, IMO, they sound incredible with the gain at 2.30pm and some compression. Fatter than Fat.

Good cab if you get a later model. Earlier ones are kind of muddy but newer ones sound great.

Got round to using my new SVT 7 PRO last night at rehearsal , through my two G & K 2x12 Cabs ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I was blown away .....Thick rich tone , Loud , with fingers or pick .
I was debating getting rid of my MM Stingray up until last night , but not now .
Comp at 9 o`clock , gain at 1 o`clock , all other controls at 12 o`clock ( master at about 9 o`clock )
Next gig two weeks time ........cant wait !

IMHO yes. Not sure when they made the change but the newer ones sound better according to those who have played both.

I got a good deal on a brand new svt 410hlf , it pairs very well with the SVT 7 pro. With the bass at 11 and mid frequency at 4 slightly pushed, it doesnt’t sound boomy or muddy at all.
I took a look at the motherboard today, mine says Rev H 01.

How are the SVT-7's these days? If i buy a new one now in 2018, are most of the technical issues sorted out?

Also I was wondering about the DI out, does it sound good and more usable than the overly hot DI on the portaflex series? Id like being able too run my amp post eq DI out too the board.

Looks like the thermal issues are sorted out. DI is good. Never had any issues with mine.

DI is working as it should be, no issues

This weekend i Re Capped my old 1993 SVT3 Non Pro. Its quiet as a mouse now and damn..... it sounds great.. No more leaky filter cap humm

Does anyone know what the ‘ultra low’ switch exactly do? It doesn’t add ultra low bass imo, but makes the sound really ‘fat’ especially when playing with a pick.

Scoops out mids by 10 db at a 500 hz center and adds a slight (2 db) boost of lows at the 40 hz center.

As a big effects user, tons of verb, modulations and various flavors of dirt, I was curious if you guys would recommend running my board in the effects loop or into the front of the amp like I do on other rigs. Thanks for any input.
