I've heard stellar things that Larry goes above and beyond. I found my information on warranty coverage from Invalid Link Removed . On second look, I'm not certain if this is the correct info for Hartke products or for Samson. I checked several of the PDF owners manuals for Hartke and they do not have warranty info but state their info is on the enclosed warranty card which I cannot find a copy of on their website. Also, I checked their support section and did a search of their website.

We call it "tall poppy syndrome" the biggest and brightest attract criticism.

In an ideal world first hand criticism would still happen from time to time. People would say "should have got a XYZ with a transferred warranty" and that would be the end of it. We don't inhabit an ideal world.

So you are saying people are holding the supposedly acclaimed "king" of bass amplification to too high a standard? Poor LOUD Tech. :crying:
You can't have your cake and eat it too. ;) If you claim to be "the best", people may expect the "best" from you? :cool:

This rings somewhat true, but all manufacturers claim theirs is special.

Ampeg does have a very good reputation. I do expect better than what is presently offered.

I bought a new rev C00. It had problems. I liked the sound but not enough to always be worried about failure. I decided to return mine and got a different make. That was the right decision for me. ...and worry more about what notes you play when, and less about the TB scuttlebutt? All amps break eventually. Everyone who doesn't have some kind of backup is going to be unhappy about that when their time comes.

No database of reliability like Consumer Reports auto ratings is going to exist unless there is a professional organization to create and maintain it. Threads, posts, trolls, and polls do not add up to CR for bass rigs. More like the National Enquirer, LOL! :ninja: :D

nope. it's because there are other manufacturers that offer better, and Loud could do it too if they chose to.

Well my experiences with new Ampeg stuff have been very positive, and people will think whatever they want regardless, so there's a time to cut bait, and that's what I just did. And I typed it as a statement of intent to cut bait. Sorry if that bothers you PF, but that's how I rock.

As I've said multiple times, I went ahead and bought a brand new Rev C00 7 Pro, going against the TB "scuttlebutt". It failed on me, first set of the first gig, multiple times. Eventually??? I've owned amps from a lot of makers for a lot of years, and used them heavily. Not one has ever failed on me. This one did, as it has for several other people reading this very post. It let me down, and warranty or not, I don't trust that (3rd revision) model. I had a backup, but in 30+ years of gigging I've never needed one until the first set with this amp. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the "scuttlebutt". I've never heard of most of those amps failing, on talkbass or elsewhere. Maybe the users are just taking it easy on them because they aren't made by Ampeg, but I doubt it.

I want to put all my attention into the music, into what notes I play. But if I'm constantly worrying about the amp giving out on me, the music isn't going to happen quite as easily.

If it makes you feel better, go ahead and minimize and ridicule the fact that many TBers are experiencing problems with this amp. I breathe easier now that I have a more reliable amp. Might it fail someday? Yes. But I think that now the odds are more in my favor that it won't be on my very next gig.

I got a restocked one for a great price and it works flawlessly. I love this head. Used it for a job last weekend without PA support through an 8ohm 410 and got compliments on the sound. I had volume to spare and i usually struggle in that room with my old amps without PA support. I was told the low notes were rumbling the room in a good way. I've used alot of differnt amps in my time and this one is a keeper.

As much as I disagree with some of your Ampeg posts, I have to admit that the posted list of non-trasnferable warranties is way bigger that I would have expected. Great post for setting the record straight.

I still think the anti-Ampeg vibe that some feel is because the King disappointed the kingdom. I surely don't want to see bad things associated with a brand I love; bought my first Ampeg (V4B) 38 years ago; currently own 4 Ampeg bass amps and 1 guitar amp.

Seems like reliability problems follow small amps these days.
Perhaps a running sticky for those that have bought brand X amps and their reliability record to help establish a baseline.
