Ampeg SVT-7PRO Poll

Here's a partial list of bass amp manufacturers who only warranty the original purchaser. There's a few more that I'm going through. I'll also include those who do transfer to the next/2nd owner.

Ampeg - 5 year/2 year warranty non-transferrable

Ashdown - 1 year warranty original owner

Eden - 2 year warranty original owner

Epifani - 2 year warranty original owner

Gallien Krueger - 2 year warranty original owner

Hartke - 1 year warranty original owner

Marshall - non-transferrable warranty. can't find the duration.

Peavey - 5 year warranty original owner

Aguilar is another with a non-transferable warranty--3 years for everything except the DB751, which has a 10-year warranty. Theirs also states the owner is responsible for all shipping.

Like some others, I expect Aguilar would actually go above and beyond the stated terms to help customers. But so has Ampeg at times...

You should do a Poll just like this one for every amp.

That's not actually a bad idea. If we had a database on how many units failed, across many different makes and models, it would put these discussions into perspective.

Pick any other amps and use the exact same Poll opinions - I think it will show how worthless a Poll such as this really is.

I think only a Mod or Adimin can monkey with the Poll numbers.

...I want to put all my attention into the music, into what notes I play. But if I'm constantly worrying about the amp giving out on me, the music isn't going to happen quite as easily.

If it makes you feel better, go ahead and minimize and ridicule the fact that many TBers are experiencing problems with this amp. I breathe easier now that I have a more reliable amp. Might it fail someday? Yes. But I think that now the odds are more in my favor that it won't be on my very next gig.

I have no dog (Ampeg brand love) in this fight and in fact can't stand most Ampeg products, past or present, for a host of musical and downright subjective reasons.

Nevertheless, at my age (well over 60), I have confidence that MY odds of having MY amp fail are always nearly 100%. As a result, I am pleasantly surprised on a daily basis—while trying to keep my mind on the music not the gear.

I don't think TB has even close to that many members. That's 2 million...
