No im digging the Shuttle 9 on the 810.. It has way more headroom than the SVT does.. I know I know.
But I only use the SVT to record with when a producer wants an amp sound..
I just saw this thread and had to post my toys...;)
kirk, i thought you were getting it fixed for your new gig.

actually from what i'm hearing about its sound, the shuttle 9 is probably a good matchup for an ampeg 810.

Yes really it is..
My svt2 was becoming somewhat untrusty years ago.. Its gone around the world 3 times. I do love the way it sounds.. It is thick like molasses yet clean ... I dont think i will ever sell it.. Its just a nice thing to have..And I was having issues with it.. Just needs a good servicing.. I re tubed it and re capped it about 4 years ago, and it only has about 10 hours on it since then...
I saw this thread And i had to post the photo of it.. Jimmy i had three of them on that D Gibson tour,, Only used one at a time . But if you look at the logo there is a small #1 after the G in ampeg..
They all sounded the same.. but its just easier to know which one i which when it comes time to tel the tech guy to do whatever... "hey can you get the SVT biases checked" ummm yeah.. which one?

But quite honestly the shuttle drives the liven heck out an 810 cab.. It sort of looks funny on top of a big cab.. I have to takes some photos.. Right now it rides in a foam case....but i should rack it with my DBX 163x... have to get the rack ears for it..
Its not an "A" tour so i have to do that stuff myself and im a bit lazy... Thank god i dont have to touch the 810s though... too old for that... :)

Thanks to Christian I'm the new owner of his SVT II non pro. I admit i never thought is would be so heavy.....I was WRONG! But once i plugged it in to my 2 Eden 410's and hit the first note it was like Christmas when i was 7. My drummer looked at me and said now that's what a bass should sound like. Not that my Eden WT1205 was not doing the job
it was just missing something.Being my first tube amp i did plies of research for months before hounding Christian about this amp looks like all the pm's i sent paid off. If anyone has a link to the manual or schematics please net me know

An update on my SVT II ~
Had it for a few months and acquired a Sunn 300T a month or so after the Ampeg. After playing around with cab setups; an 810 with four Eminence MODs, a Mesa 1516 as well as a Mesa Powerhouse to be exact, I have had adequate time with all of my tube heads to really judge them all. I own the SVT II, a Mesa 400+, and the 300T and all were played with a GL Jazz or a Ric 4003 depending on my mood. I find the SVT to.... well.... sound the best to my ears for what I do.
I never thought I'd go back on the 400+, but the Ampeg just has a big fat bottom and grind that cannot be matched. It currently sports SED KT88s in the output section and a mixture of JAN Sylvania 5751 and RCA 12ax7 in the preamp. I don't mess with the graphic EQ and run everything flat with a slight mid boost and the selector on the '2' setting. It just fills the room the best out of the 3! I find the 300T to be a great tool as it makes an excellent high power guitar head, but for pure tone the SVT II wins out the lot. Just thought I'd share my experience..... I could not be an happier with my purchase. There is a good chance the 400+ will be on the chopping block within the next year due to to my new found love for the NMV SVT circuit...
