Ampeg SVT Micro Stack

For kicks, I tried my Micro VR head through my big SVT810AV this weekend...very impressed...did NOT sound like a joke...though it did LOOK like one...
Not as sweet or full sounding as my SVT-VR, but a pretty close approximation. If I took more time to tweak I might have gotten it even closer.

This micro rig is good. I tried it out and it is pretty good. good for the studio or acoustic gigs or just the living room. This aint meant for clubs obviously. Plus it has thew headphone jack too which is convienant.

I can't say that enough. I don't gig, so I can't comment on that but it's the best small apt amp I've ever owned.

I'm just getting back into playing after 12 years, I saw one of these at GC this weekend but didn't have time to play it; but found this video and I'm sold. At 5:30 he plays with DI and mic, then just DI, then just mic. I didnt see this posted sorry if its a repost.

My Micro VR just arrived.. ordered it from Sweetwater.
Quick question- is the cord that came in the box alongside the power supply cable an instrument cable or a speaker cable?
It's 2 or 3 ft. long (well, more short than long), has two sealed 1/4 ends.. it is also kinda "flat", like a power cord from any sort of household appliance/device.
I've yet to pick up a new speaker cable so I was going to use this one in the meantime, but wanted to make sure it was alright to do so.

it's a speaker cable, and it's probably all the speaker cable you'll need unless you play out with it a lot.

Wow. Just wow. Having had been the owner of an SVT CL, I was expecting the Micro VR to have a somewhat similar tone, but whatever the holy heck the engineers at Ampeg did to make this amp sound more like an SVT than my old CL did should be bottled and sold to amp makers around the world.
I have yet to play this head through a cabinet. I live in a small apartment and my 1x15 Peavey BW is buried behind tons of randomness.. but through headphones alone I don't think I've ever been more satisfied with my tone, overall.
I hope this translates well through my cabinet. I'm going to purchase the matching 2x10 as soon as possible. It's excitingly satisfying to buy a piece of gear that exceeds all expectations and leaves your bank unbroken.
I also picked up a Sansamp BDDI (been wanting one since '01), it goes well with the Micro but I'm thinking I like the head's tone by itself more.. time will tell.

Well, they sound good enough that someone I let borrow mine for a gig traded me his '67 Fender Bassman (Blackface) for it

. I'll probably order up another shortly .I think the little Micro VR with a single 2x10 is loud enough for most small venues. If you're really hurting for volume, the DI out can be used for some extra oomph.
I just ordered a second cabinet for mine....couldn't help myself! Elderly was selling them for $249...

I will be playing mine through a 4 ohm 1x15 very soon..
Will keep you posted, as I'm dying to hear how it sounds myself.
It SUCKS working late, and living in an apartment.
While I'm posting in this particular thread- am I going to have to purchase 2 of the matching 2x10 cabinets to get this amp's full potential (with the matching cabinet)?
I just realized that they are 8 ohm cabs.

I was thinking that it might be nice to have a single 4 ohm cab to take advantage of all 200 watts. One light weight 12 or 15 cab with a micro VR head would be easy to haul around, especially a 12. Just a thought for very small gigs, informal recording, practice and such.
