Ampeg SVT Micro Stack

Ya, if you bought it new, you should be able to return it to the store and get another one. Hard to blame Ampeg for that one, though. It obviously got wet somewhere else along the line.

If the cardboard did not get wet, I suppose it might be possible for condensation to cause that, but it'd have to be some pretty dramatic temperature differences, combined with very high humidity, to go so far beyond saturating the desiccant.

I'm not blaming anybody. It just is. But it definitely happened before it was shipped to me.

I'm in contact with the retailer. They've indicated I can exchange or get a refund, but they wanted to see the pics and I'm waiting for them to get back.

Durn it. I'm not having good fortune with ampeg. I found a deal on the microstack and I opened up the box today.

Moisture in the packaging. Add that to the clipping problems with the PF500 and it looks like I'm going ampegless.

But don't feel sorry for me. The equipment I'm left with is very satisfying.:)

That really sucks, but I'm glad I found your post!
I bought one of these cabs new last week. The box had not been opened at the store. I just noticed this morning that the bottom corners on mine are all rusty (just like yours) and there was moisture visible on the tolex. I have been trying to figure out all morning where it was coming from. The cab it had been sitting on didn't show any signs of being wet/damp. Odd.

Mine was double boxed and bagged. Nothing showed any signs of damage when I opened it. The cab will be going back tomorrow. I was going to return it anyway since it doesn't sound anything like I had hoped with my MB200. I just hope my retailer doesn't give me a hard time now that this has popped up.

Weird. I didn't open the cab box. I'm not planning to either, unless they want me to inspect it.

I wonder if they are using a water based adhesive to attach the tolex. If they bagged it up before the glue was fully cured they would be sealing in a lot of moisture.

Mine is even a little more odd ... I didn't notice any moisture or rust when I unpacked it. It's been sitting out in my house for almost a week and I just noticed the problem this morning.

Double boxed. Both boxes fine. Moisture was inside plastic wrapping, along with two packs of desiccant that are saturated.

It looks like chrome. And it looks like rust.

Looks more like some funky asian mold to me. I saw something like that on a container-load of wooden furniture from Indonesia that got wet in transit and was unloaded in the warehouse where I worked. "Ocean Worn" is probably a good guess, I bet the container took on a bit of water, the heat over the Pacific dried the cardboard, but the contents stayed wet inside the plastic. Does it smell weird?

It does have a bit of a funky odor. It's been sitting out since I opened it and it's still wet. When I get it on my hands they stay slimy/slick until I wash. The pics make it look more yellow. It's actually a rust color. The boxes show no sign of being wet.

I haven't gotten it yet but Hellomusic says they are going to issue a call tag for a return. Can't ask for more than that. I ordered it labor day weekend when they had a special. It took them a while to ship it (they said it could take 3 weeks and it did) but they have been very responsive whenever I've contacted them, including today.
