Ampeg SVT Micro Stack

I've been using one of these for about a year now. I love it, but it is what it is. I live in an apartment, and most of my playing is done in a church. This amp has 'big' full sound at low volumes, great for practicing in my apartment, and can put out enough volume for playing in church setting. The size and weight make it easy to move back and forth, since i only own the own the one amp, and can't just leave one at the church. Thats probably my next purchase, a second amp. just deciding if i should go with something bigger to leave at the church (unnessary, but i like toys), and use this at home, or leave the micro at the church and get something smaller for practicing at home. price will most likely dictate... but back on topic. i usually use the amp on its own at the church, and it's more than powerful enough for the job. sometimes theres a guy there who fancies himself a 'soundman', and he'll plug it into the board... in which i case use a lower volume on stage, and let him have his fun. sounds good either way.
as far as the duribilty/ build quality some have mentioned, i can't say i've had any problems. After a year of lugging it back and forth 2 or 3 times a week, it shows no obvious wear and has never let me down. I don't think its gonna fall apart on you...

If you play in a metal band, or in another situation where you're competing with some distorted guitars, in large venues or noisey bars, this obviously isn't for you. for small church/ coffee house type settings, this fits the bill without breaking your back. as a home practice amp, its great. Are there other options that could do the job cheaper? you bet. do they look and sound as good? completely subjective....

I just bought this whole rig about a month ago, and yes, if you want it to be loud, it isn't going to do that. Me being the genius that I am thought maybe I should load the cab with 2 Eminence BP 102's and wire it parallel. (4 ohm, 400 watt cab) Bad idea. With the amp at low volume the fan would go ballistic, and the head would shut itself off to protect itself after about 2 minutes of playing, I wired the cab back to original specs, but was still dissapointed, traded it in today for a GK Backline 600 (I'm poor, don't judge too harshly) to push the currently rewired (again) 4 ohm-400 watt cab.
